I'm curious about using it in my car because it is so cheap! Could my car run on it? Has anyone tried this in an older car?

I can't locate a local dealer who sells batteries for a 1993 volvo 850. One store does carry them for the 1994 volvo 850. Will the 1994 battery work in my 1993 model?

The only number on my old 1993 battery that I noted was 58r-60.

Ok, so my moms volvo has no key locks on the out side to unlock the doors. It's a 2005, you use the key fob to unlock the doors. problem is my mom has locked her keys inside the car and there is not a second set. AAA come out and they can not open the door because of how it is designed. nothing a lock smith can do and the dealer can't send anyone out until friday. Is there any other solution other then breaking the window to get in to this car? Sometimes wish volvo had something like on-star for cars like this. HELP!

My friend just called me up, and he said he just got his ball joints replaced on a '91 960. About 15 minutes after he got out of the dealer, the car makes a "KRRRRR" noise when he turns the wheel, even in park. If you guys could help me out with this, it'd be great. Thanks in advance.

I have an '89 240 wagon. Does anyone have experience with upgrading the suspension? The lowering springs, suspension bars and dampers offered by IPD intrigue me, but I would like to know your opinion about the cost vs. benefits. Thanks!

I've had this car for about 4 years. Within the past year, it occasionally died, but nothing serious. Over this past summer, it started dying more. We took it to a mechanic, who replaced the control module and claimed it was fixed, but it started dying again about 3 days later. We took it in again, and he tightened the connections on the control module and said it should do the trick. The car ran fine for two months, but now it is dying again.

It dies on the highway, at stoplights, anywhere. Right before it dies, I can't accelerate, and it coasts for a few seconds before completely dying. Every light on the dashboard comes on, but the radio and other accessories stay on. We've had the fuel injector and fuel system checked, and my dad drained the tank to check the fuel filter, but nothing was wrong. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? I'm afraid to drive it now, and I'm looking for a new car.

This is a stupid problem, but maybe someone knows the answer. My '06 V70 wagon flashes a problem on the LCD readout about twice a month that "gas cap is off/loose". Obviously, I looked, and the cap was fully on (clicked). One time (and only one time) the fault lit the check engine light. I've taken it to two dealers, and both pressure tested the tank, and tested the cap. They both told me that basically I was an idiot, and didn't know how to close the cap. Maybe I don't know how to close a Volvo cap, but it seems to that after you fuel the car, you rotate the cap in a clockwise position, until it starts to click, and just give it another 180 degree. The warning from the display never appeared after fueling - typically about a half tank used.

would fuel injectors clog up in the head?
would a clogged catalytic converter choke it even if there was no discernible smell? I was dissuaded from opening that to check by friend who insists they smell like rotten eggs when clogged
would it be (over 50 times) getting gas to start and then dieing if the fuel pumps were deficient
I am way out in the woods far from a garage unable to drive it to garage
normally I am pretty adept with a lot of stuff but this has my stymied ... help ... please

I have a 1991 Volvo 240 and my mechanic says he puts this brake powder in it to stop it. However, it only works for a little while but then again it is squeak-o-thon time! I wonder if he is not diagnosing correctly or just does not know how to fix it. Any suggestions? This is so embarassing!

OK, the LH side tail lights and front parking lights on my 87 Volvo 240 wagon stopped working today. I checked front & rear bulbs, they're OK. R & L brake lights are OK. 4-way flasher works OK. All fuses in fuse panel check OK. Light switch checks OK. Bulb failure warning light is on, however all bulbs check OK (checked w/ohmmeter). Fuse 16 (RH lights) has normal 12 v. on it. Fuse 15 has ZERO volts. But the Haynes manual shows both fuse 15 and 16 fed directly from the switch on the same wire. What the heck's going on here? I'm stumped. What's left to check? Any ideas? Tnx. in advance.

I'm having a sudden issue with my '84 240 DL Wagon (215,000 miles). I purchased it 2 months ago and it's been running wonderfully.

Yesterday afternoon, out of the blue, it had trouble kicking over. Once it did, the idle was erratic and shook the car. I was able to rev it--and while revved, it felt and sounded normal. However, if I try to move the car at all in a low gear, or at idle, it stalls out.

There were no abnormal "symptoms" leading up to this--the car was running very well.

We did hit a pretty deep pothole a few days before the problem surfaced.

I've checked everything I could think of (even added gas in case the gas gauge had broken) and I'm stuck. Obviously I didn't check the right thing.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

I had a '94 Volvo 940 for 13 years, recently got into a wreck and now looking to purchase another car. I am considering either buying another '94 Volvo because I really loved that car and it had over 300K miles on it with very minor issues. I am also looking at the 2001 - 2004 range of S60 but I wanted to know the overall difference. I know volvo quality has gone down since Ford purchased it, and one thing I liked about my Volvo was that it was METAL. None of that fiber glass, or whatever it is stuff. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I got in a car accident a few weeks ago and my white 1994 Volvo 940 was totaled. The whole front right side was bent. We were unijured of course. I had that volvo since I was in COLLEGE, and before then my parents had it. We had been through a lot together. When it was towed away :tear: it had registered 316,000 MILES on it. A FEW minor problems, mostly caused by me when I was in college because I was not servicing it correctly. So what's the point? Well I am looking at buying another '94 Volvo 940 OR a '01/'02 Volvo S40. What does everyone think? I don't want a crap car, and my heart is with Volvo 940. I am sure my mind is made up, but would love others opinion on the matter. BTW, I could have any car I want, $40K+ BMW, Benz etc...but I value money and I think it's hot when people with money drive old cars, it tells a lot about their character. I hate seeing people driving expensive cars who still live at home with their parents. But thats a completely different discussion
