I am looking at a Bertone with six cylinder from a Volvo dealer. It has 130,000 km on it but all one owner in Victoria BC. Is this a good value at $10,000? Does anyone have any cautions? engine reputation?

beautiful car, bad engine. I would stay away from it. They had bad camshafts and start ticking, $$$$$$$$$$ to fix

Volvo's V6 was a joint venture between Volvo, Renault and Peugeot. It turned out to be unreliable and very expensive to repair. Although the Bertone is a very nice car and really unique in several ways, the V6 engine detracts from it in a big way. And $10,000? That's way too much. Even a Bertone 4-cylinder turbo isn't worth that much.

the prv v6 was not a particularly good engine [gutless and prone to cam failure, braking timing chains and overheating] and was never really smooth running. however the same basic engine [direct bolt in] with many improvements was used in renault/eagle premier/dodge monaco the o.e. fuel injection is very adaptable into the volvo
this kind of swap is fairly expensive and no other car would be worth it except a bertone. and no 10 grand is probabley about right for one of these good luck and because you say low miles, if you baby it that old v6 may last a while yet.
good luck and have fun. neat car.
