heres what you can do take it to a dealer and have them hook up the VST it can read how many miles are recorded on ECM and TCM there is a way to order a new odometer with the mialage preset to your read out but most people tend to just replace the odometer set to 0 and they place a tag on the car usually on the drivers door area to let anyone know the actual milage. A 94 volvo is a really good car as long as it has been in good hands. They are very reliable and have strong engines the only thing it is from Sweden so parts are expensive and at times out of stock, slao you do need to replace them with the right volvo part if not you will have it break down prematurely on you and then have to fix it again especially the breaks and rotors they are very sensitive when it comes to after market parts. Good luck...............(Oh yeah that one answer was funny about the SUVs fool didnt know)

The 940 Volvo is a huge automobile! we are a Volvo family individuals considering the fact that 1986 and had a 240GL for 18 years without problems; it replaced into serviced generally. i could recommend a Volvo S60. The 940 is a incredibly stable sized automobile and in the long i think of the S40 will look small. As to which S60 you have incredibly some possibilities. S60 2.5T (210 HP), S60 AWD (All Wheelchronic) (210HP), S60 T5 (257HP) and S60R (300HP) those are all exciting tochronic and for the money will matchup to any BMW or severe eu automobile for alot much less money. As the thank you to purchase i could recommend a used qualified Volvo. 2004 or 2005 provide you even greater effective fee then new and characteristic a 6 year or one hundred,000 mile guarantee which ever occurs first while offered from a Volvo broker. The years are measured from the unique in provider and cutting-edge mileage. working example if the automobile is a 2004 which initially replaced into on the line in Oct 2004 the guaranty could desire to final till Sept 2010. If it had 28,000 miles it could have seventy two,000 mile to end of guarantee. keep in mind which ever occurs first. those warranties many times have not have been given any deductible and canopy very practically each thing. stable success automobile searching!

It depends on the model. If it's a 960, forget it. If it's a 940 then I would have it checked out by a reputable shop that can estimate the mileage for you. Volvos tend to amass lots of miles over their life spans but the red engine models (940 is one) will outlast practically anything on the road. Having the vehicle inspected is money well spent. Of course the owner's asking price should be very reasonable.

Get an independent Volvo mechanic to evaluate the car. Mileage in a Volvo may not be the prime consideration, how well the car was maintained is what is critical. A mechanic will be able to tell.

Absolutely not. There are other SUV's that regularly get better fuel economy and more importantly part replacements are substantially less expensive. The GMC Yukon and Chevy Tahoe hands down regularly get better fuel economy, have more reliable transmissions and transfer cases, better brakes, and ride much better. -- I've spent considerable driving time in each vehicle. Prospective buyers such as yourself should consider all aspects of ownership of ownership of off-shore ( today, Ford owns Volvo) or partially owned car companies. The differential in common parts replacement costs are staggering.
For instance: Anonymously walk up to the Volvo parts counter and price a starter, alternator brake rotor and brake pads. Do the same thing at your Local GM dealer.
The final decision is yours but my nephews wife didn't want a "Cooke cutter" American SUV. They bought a Ford owned Land Rover. Unusual tire ware, difficulty getting it aligned by the selling dealer and a very stiff poor ride coupled with a "chincy" interior made this admittedly a poor choice.

Depends on what the mileage reads. If it already is a high number, then who cares as long as the car is cheap. If the mileage is unusually low, then I wouldn't buy the car without proof of mileage....why don't you run a CARFAX and see what it says?

BUY THE CAR ONLY IF IT IS CHEAP. A GOOD MECHANIC CAN CHECK THE CAR OUT AND LET YOU NOW WHAT PARTS HAVE BEEN CHANGED IN THE ENGINE AND FRONT END. THE REASON SOME PEOPLE TURN OFF THE SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER IS BECAUSE THEY USE THE VEHICLE FOR VERY HIGHT MILEAGE AND KNOW IT WILL NOT BE WORTH ANYTHING WITH HIGH MILEAGE. USE CAUTION AND HAVE A MECHANIC CHECK ANY CAR YOU WANT TO BUY. ITS WORTH THE SMALL FEE HE WILL CHARGE.
