chances are a 2.3 liter 4cyl commonly known as the "red" engine these came in three flavors, turbo and non-turbo.and non turbo double overhead cam 16 valve [and used a balance shaft system].
if yours is a 6 cyl diesel or turbo diesel it is a engine volvo purchased from audi [these engines with the turbo drove almost car like], but these grease slinging parts gobbling head gasket blowing chunks were dropped from the us market before they did irrepairable harm to volvo .
