I have a 2004 Ford Taurus and while I was on long distance drive the "check transmission" indicator came on. I checked the tranny fluid level and it was find.
The weird thing about it is that it went away when I restarted the engine, but came on again after some miles.
Also, ever since this problem occured I've been hearing somekind of noise ( ratttling\static) underneath the engine especially when I first start it in the morning, and the engine sometimes idle high. On a another occasion, the car couldn't go fast on reverse even when I press the gas pedal almost all the way.


I'm thinking it might be a electrical problem but not sure.

Would a engine diagnostic be able to tell me what's wrong with the car?

I have a 2006 Nissan Maxima.

When I put a CD in I have a chance that it won't work. It'll kick the CD out 2, 3, 10, 20, 50 times (sometimes more), saying "Check Disc" or "CD ERROR F2".

This happens with old, new, and burned CD's, so it's not the CD's themselves. This happens with CD's that never had a problem. I've noticed that the stereo tends to ruin the bottoms of the CD's, too - scratching them up something awful.

The drawback is the CD player is built into the center console, behind it, and the large LCD display (where the nav is), connects to it. Special buttons are built into the console to function with the CD player. Since the player is hidden, any stereo system I'd buy would be worthless since the buttons and display would also be behind the panel, and it likely wouldn't interface with the existing buttons/screen.

How can I replace it with a different system? Is that possible? Or can it only be replaced by another Nissan stereo?

I am going to change my OEM plugs and install NGK Iridium plugs this weekend. According to the website, it says not to gap the new plugs, however I'm worried that will cause decreased performance. Should I gap them, and if so, how much for a 2005 N/A 3.5L Altima with some minor mods?

Hi all..I had a quick look through the previous threads but could'nt see anything exactly like the problem I'am having, apologies if I've missed it.
I have a 97 expedition / auto transmission and when I start it in the morning it goes into gear no problem. However, when you press down on the accelerator it's like your revving the engine in neutral then suddenly it's like the gear engages and it lurches since you have the accelerator down. You have to be real careful you're not near anything. Any ideas what I could go look for as the problem?

One day my engine light is on, then it's off. When i drive, it sometimes cuts off. I will start it up again very easily, to only have it stall again a few minutes later. I changed my gas filter,but to no avail. Thsi is frustrating, i cannot go anywhere without holding up traffic.

I HAVE A 2000 BMW 323CI , SOME TIMES WHEN I TRY TO PUT THE TRANS.. ON REVERSE IT DOSNT DO ANYTHING AND THE CAR DOSNT MOVE AT ALL. I know that my car has a leaking water pump, but am low on cash at the moment to get a replacement. I've been driving it minimally, but now there is a problem with the car starting. It appears to be fine electrically (you get the electrical sound when you turn the key) but it won't turn over until after like a minute of trying to get it to start. Just wondering if these two problems are related or if there is something else I should be looking at. My Cavalier is a '95 2 door with 140k miles. Thanks for your help!

i have a lincoln LS V8 252horsepower. i don't know much about engines and there sizes .. i was told its a ford small block, my question is can you fit a bigger horsepower engine in the space of the one i have? i already asked about blowers and superchargers and it sounded worse than my last marriage to get into and out of haha. is there another engine block that'll fit in there? thanks guys

4 months after that it was acting like it was overheating, engine rattle and all. It would even konk out at lights without reving the engine. The temp gauge said it wasnt. Well being the backyard mechanic that I am I pulled the t-stat out figuring it would tell me what was wrong by what changed. Its not the t-stat,waterpump or temp gauge. The problem used to be very intermitant but is getting worse. Truck is almost undriveable. Could fuel pump be slowly dying? Thought they either worked or didnt. Truck has 4.3 FI. Please remember im a hack so use small words. Thanks everyone.

The cylinder needs to be changed because there is no ignition key in existence. A new cyilnder is very cheap but I'm not sure if I can remove the old one without haveing the key to rotate the cylinder to the run position. If I had a key I know it would be a snap but are there any Ford guys out there that can help me out with the steps of removing it without having the key for it? Or if it can't be done please let me know so I won't waste my time. I can always just break the thing and wire up a hidden kill for security.

The truck is an '88 Ranger 2.3L. Manual Trans. No tilt steering.

On a recent trip for an oil change a mechanic suggested that the squeaking was a result of maladjusted belts (2), further noting that a adjustment is ~ $ 50.00 per belt. Does this sound accurate? The car ~ 130,000 miles and since I have had it (~ 94,000 miles) I have never had these adjusted. The squeaking has gotten progressively worse or the last few weeks, I want to keep this ride as long as possible but would like to avoid being taken for a ride! Any help is greatly appreciated.
