The cylinder needs to be changed because there is no ignition key in existence. A new cyilnder is very cheap but I'm not sure if I can remove the old one without haveing the key to rotate the cylinder to the run position. If I had a key I know it would be a snap but are there any Ford guys out there that can help me out with the steps of removing it without having the key for it? Or if it can't be done please let me know so I won't waste my time. I can always just break the thing and wire up a hidden kill for security.

The truck is an '88 Ranger 2.3L. Manual Trans. No tilt steering.

Oh yeah. I'm not trying to steal the truck. It is a junker that I will be getting for free if I can get it to run.

You can try to pick the cylinder but I never had the best luck doing this even though the old Ford lock cylinders weren't very secure. If that doesn't work break the chrome or black bezel off where the key goes in with a screwdriver or pliers, the take a drill with a 3/8 bit and drill the tumblers out, then the cylinder will turn.

And if still won't work, drive the lock pin into the cylinder with a hammer and a punch, then use a dent puller to pop the lock cyl out.
