Everything went together perfectly fine, no problems, the tranny fluid is at the right level, i've tried adjusting the kick down cable, i've done everything, but the tranny slips horribly when you try to get the car moving. you have to rev the snot out of it before it starts to go anywhere, but once it is moving, it drives alright, and shifts fine. I've changed the filter and gasket, and cleaned out the pan. There wasn't much for shavings stuck to the magnet. I got the tranny out of a junkyard. You think it's just a badly worn tranny, or can you think of simething else that might be causing the problem?

i have had several mechanics look into this, the tranny did go out, but after a reman. still clanging. i have been told engine mounts, harmonic balancer etc. it seems to be due to torque, but it will occasionally make the noise at idle. sort of like the noise of a fan hitting a metal shroud, but more squeaky sounding along with the clang. we are stumped over this, any help appreciated

I just read an article at http://www.damninteresting.com/?p=669#mo... and found other articles about steam cars, including modern attempts by a British car club at breaking the world speed record for steam powered cars. Where can I get a high-powered engine like the one in the article? (and how much would it cost?) As fascinating as this revival of steam technology is, is it really feasible? Has anyone actually done this in the recent past for a car used daily for normal driving? Convince me.

I have a 92 Maxima - During cold mornings when i try and start my car there is a choke, grinding noise for about 2 seconds and then it starts. The sound reminds me of when a car is already started adn you turn the Key again to start it - yea that kinda sound. This only happenes in cold weather.

When driving at speed of 35 MPH my van jumped and then the speedometer went to zero, 30 seconds later the gas guage went to zero and started dinging, the car jumped again 30 seconds after that and everything came back. The gas pedal was tight during the minute of craziness. Drove again today to test and had the same problem.

It just runs out of steam in third above 3000. Fuel preasure good I plumed in a guage if anything it is high but give no trouble at idle. Like I said in town of the redlight it can't be beat 1st zoom 2 nd zoom third it just runs out of gas. It's clean, the filter, I'm guessing it's in the main circuit and planing on rejetting today but which direction I don't know if it is to much gas or not enough. Motor probably 8.5 to 1 otherwise bone stock with a hotdog and short pipes.

My steering wheel started squeaking when the weather got colder. I think my Ford Escort has power steering. I didn't get the new owners manual. I'm wondering if I need steering fluid, or if the steering belt may need to be replaced.
