I just read an article at http://www.damninteresting.com/?p=669#mo... and found other articles about steam cars, including modern attempts by a British car club at breaking the world speed record for steam powered cars. Where can I get a high-powered engine like the one in the article? (and how much would it cost?) As fascinating as this revival of steam technology is, is it really feasible? Has anyone actually done this in the recent past for a car used daily for normal driving? Convince me.

Ted Pritchard from Melbourne developed a Ford car driven by steam. It was so successful that Ford could see it injuring their current production and so the project was shelved. Check this site http://www.pritchardpower.com/Our%20History.html

No one has made a daily driver out of a steam engine. Their is a reason the internal combustion engine replaced the steam engine as the primary powerplant of the modern world. All said if you find someone who has done it contact me because that is pretty friggen awesome.

you should have watched the show with Jay Leno, he has some of the best steam cars ever built. it was in the late 20s and early 30s the last steam cars were the best and still not good enough, way to heavy and slow to start :(

Those were good but not in modern days, they are very slow, difficult to start and very noisy, render them completely inefficient in modern days.
