My wife hates Ford, except the old Mustangs. I personally have no problem with them, although I do like coming up with acronyms for them, here are a few:
Found On Road Dead
Driver Returned On Foot
Fix Or Repair Daily
My wife had a Probe, which stands for
Please Remove Objects Before Extinguishing
Yes, her probe caught on fire on I95 coming from VA to NC. That's probably why she hates Fords so much.

Ford SUCKS! I would never in my life even consider owning or driving a Ford. I'm the proud owner of a beautiful 1970 Chevy Camaro RS w/ a 350 engine. My favorite thing to do in the car is smoke all those lame Ford guys that think they are tough and fast. I love the look on their face when they pull up next to me and they see that they got smoked by a girl. All you Ford owners are just haters 'cause you made the dumb choice of buying a slow a$$ Ford.

Your question is very subjective, and quantifiable only by those that HAVE driven a larger number of vehicles.
I have had a large numbe of cars, trucks and a few motorcycles...
My favorite car is a toss up between the 1979 Mustang and a 1979 Fiat Spyder 2000.
My favorite truck of all time was a 1996 International Eagle long nose hood!
All makers put out some quality products, while other products may be compared for or against it...
For Example, I once drove a friends Yugo, and it had a lot of git and go, (but I drive hard)
and one of the worst mpg vehicles I EVER had was a 1985 El Camino...
I currently drive a 1986 F350 Quadcab Diesel Dually
and stock against stock, honestly believe that my truck will outpull ANY comparable truck from Chevy and especially Dodge!
I think you need to drive a little bit in each model before you say that you "hate" them!
BTW: To the first responder...Who do you think owns Mazda?

I'm not a Ford fan, but they are way better than crap from GM.
Chevy trucks are alright, but they can't make good cars by themselves. Instead they rebadge Opel and call it a Saturn.
Compare the new Opel, oops I meant Saturn Aura with the new Toyota Camry. The Camry is more powerful and faster than even the 3.6 liter engine in the Aura.
Edmunds conducted a test last week that pitted a Chevy Cobalt against 5 other cars in its category. The Cobalt came in dead last in 6th place.
GM trucks are alright. By this I meant only if you get their new trucks in LT (Chevy) or SLT (GMC) trim. The higher line trims have the new Suburban/Yukon interior while LS and SLE models have that cheap squared off shape of the dashboard.
According to the J.D. Power 2006 Vehicle Dependability Study Ford is more reliable than Chevrolet. And Toyota is way.... WAY more reliable than both.

I have owned both (as well as a lot of others both foreign and domestic). Among the best were my '56 chevy, '64 mustang, '65 caprice, '87 taurus. I currently own a recent model impala - very good car. I rented a ford focus as I needed body work done to the Impala - the Focus was surprisingly comfortable and had plenty of power and room. So for those who hate one over the other, get real.

I hate ford they suck at making cars and trucks. My neighbour has a 1998 torus and he has power steering and oil pump problems on his torus you can hear all the valves making a lot of noise when that thing is ruining also his rack and pinion make a lot noise to. Mean while I have my trusty old 1992 Chevy Lumina 3.1 with 126,550 miles and it runs like new and it drives like a new car the engine and tranny are nice and tight nothing makes any noise and it accelerates handles and brakes like new I love it.

Ford is goin dowwwwwwn.... Chev right beside 'em...
So many years of screwing the customer with shoddy product, poor service and not standing behind their warranty, people have given up and tried something new, and wont be back.
Watch the news, read the paper, check their stocks.
They will not survive on American pride/made in America, which is one of the last stops they are pulling out... both are dying breeds and no one seems to care.

Lets face it, most American cars are pieces of junk! Of course there are exceptions to this, but in general American cars have low resale values, and don't last long. I had a new Cobalt as a rental car, and wow, was that thing crappy. I couldn't believe it was brand new! Detroit is having a real hard time making desirable / quality vehicles. Why do you think Toyota is close to overtaking GM as the #1 car mfg? Oh yeah, back to the Ford thing, I don't like new ford, but old Ford is the way to go. I drive a '65 Mustang, and it is sweet.

I really hate GM, Hondas and Toyotas. But really you should only ever compared model to model. With the exception of the corvette or camaro, I have never found a model made by any of those manufacturers that I liked better than the competing car made by a competitor. Personally I have only know one person/instance of someone having a GM vehicle last over 200K miles. I have known of many, many ford ranger, escort, mustang, van owners getting 300K miles without major rebuilds.

Actually, Carpenter Daughter, Chevy is now pulling themselves out of debt, while Ford is sinking faster than ever. Chevy is the best at trucks, Honda makes the best vans, and Saturn makes the best cars (doubt me on that one, just look at the new Aura)
