Almost everyone knows that sweden is the home of safety. But is that in past tense already???I mean...now basicly Honda, Toyota, Jaguar, Renault (of coures), and even American cars make five stars crash ratings, so should crash tests make their standards higher?

While driving a manual transmission vehicle in stop and go traffic, is it better to continually shift from first to neutral, or to just hold the clutch and brake during stoppages?

hi there, i was wondering if anyone knew what i could do here.. i bought a project 1970 dodge charger about 3 weeks ago and the previous owner said he installed new brake pads [drum brakes on all 4 corners] but when i push the pedal, it makes a squishy noise, goes to the floor, and just comes right back up. it is also leaking at the firewall where the pedal goes into. i'm probably thinking this guy didn't bleed the system, or the master cylinder is out. how could i tell if it's either or? and how do you bleed a drum brake system on this car? and why is it leaking in area? [only leaks when you press the pedal down] so right now, i have no brakes on the car. the e-brake doesn't work either. and my last question, me and a few others were looking at the front suspension and noticed there isn't any springs, my father owned a '69 back in the late 70's and my friend's father owned a '68 back then too, they couldn't remember if it had front springs or not, theres no cupping area for a spring?

Anyone know the letters on drivers license eye exam? I need to renew my license and i barely passed last time. I'm not blind i just cant see letters 1/4" tall. It's not like im going to get cutoff by a news paper. Are they the same as a regular eye chart that starts with a E?

My 1998 Maxima is very well maintained at 125,000 miles, I would trade that and add $2500 to get in return a 1999 Pathfinder with only 75,000. Both cars have been in our family since the beginning so I know they have been taken good care of. Im just not sure if I want to pull the trigger and make the deal. Thanks for your help.

I recently bought an automatic 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited. I think it has tranny problems. The 3rd day I had it, I was slowly backing out of a space and when I stopped to put it into drive, it made this huge bang and shudder. It's similar to when I had a bad torque converter on my last car and you had to keep gassing it until it finally caught and rocketed forward, but less dramatic. It continues to do this almost everyday at random and with varying degrees of banginess. It seems like when I am very careful shifting and acceIerating it doesn't do it as much. It happens in reverse or drive. I had it inspected by a former Chrysler tech. and he thinks it's okay. It really only happens at low speeds. And when I'm in stop and go traffic, it's like it almost trips - very hesitant sometimes, other times it drives normal. It's bipolar. I think it's the tranny, but everyone thinks I'm paranoid because of my last car's tranny fiasco! Someone said it might be my linkage, but Idk. Thanks!

There are other brands of diesel trucks and vans who have it while others don't. If some brands of trucks and vans don't have it, then it goes without saying that it's not important. However, if it's really important how are these vehicles which don't have it are able to do away with it without doing harm to its engines.

Hello all,
I have a driving test tomorrow morning to get my driver's license, and I'm quite simply terrified. Earlier today, I was out practicing and I nearly got into an accident. I'm usually a good driver, but that mistake I made today has just completely demoralized me.

Does anyone have any advice? Any tips? Any certain heads ups I should know about for tomorrow?

5.2L 8 Cylinders. 4x4

Just changed the Oil sending unit and the ignition gasket.. had the air filters cleaned when I got the oil changed and they said nothing about them needing to be replaced..

Seems to be in good shape all around.. however...

When I start the car the RPM jumps straight up to 1.5 - 1.75 which it should not.. and goes back down to 1 when I placed it in drive or reverse..

I've been told loads of stuff about oxygen sensors and air and blah blah and I just don't get it..

I used this fuel cleaner stuff that I bought from Autozone (they picked it out) and it went from 7.9 MPG to 6.0!!) WHAT IS GOING ON!! Is my car beyond dead??

I put a basket case together and I use a batt. tender.

I have a new starter and I'm starting to get suspicious of the power it puts out.

When I rewired I took a guess at 14ga. as being enough.

Now that I look at the diameter of the wire going to the solenoid, I'm starting to wonder if it was the logical thing to do.

I'm thinking of running 10 ga. from the generator to the batt.

also, I'm running two 20 amp fuses. One on that wire and one going to the solenoid. What do you think?
