If fuel consumption and emissions are such a concern wouldn't it be wiser to impose limits on the manufacture of large capacity engines?

I know the 2-second rule, but the 4-second rule... it is not mentioned in my Advanced Theory of Driving (6th Edition). Hope someone can enlighten me on this, thanks!

I had it tested at a local A/C repair shop (that my dad is friends with) But I don't think that they really looked at it... They told me that I needed a new compressor, and its around $900.00 to fix!!! Does this seem a little high to anybody else, I have had a compressor replace before (in different cars) and it has never cost me more that $500.00. I don't want to get ripped of because I am a young woman, and live in a small town (we only have the one A/C shop hear!)

What do you suggest I do???

Thanks in advance!!! ;)

Howdoes a '99 VW Beetle drive; particularly in the snow?

I found a used one for 7,995 with 75,000 miles on it.

I'm a bit weary as i'm looking for something with as few miles as possible; but this seems like a good bargain.

The original garage's readings were 9(co emissions) with 3 being the limit. I took it to another garage and it passed with flying colours. Can the readings really be that different or (as I suspect) were the first garage trying to sting me?(they did offer to sell me products to sort the problem out!)

for the past few months my flat mates have gone out and randomly stolen road signs and island cones whcih they leave in our hall..
..They have now gathered together a total of 9 signs and since last night one huge island cone.

isn't this illegal?

the hall is so full of stupid signs and my talking to them isnt getting through to them.

how can i make them realise what they are doing is wrong... dirting up the house and taking up what little floor space we have in the hall?

Are road signals controlled by logic and timers or is it controlled by someone sitting somewhere? Do the signal intervals change during rush hour or is there is any built in logic that senses the traffic and trigger the signals? What are the variables on which traffic signal work and do the logic and interval change during different times of the day or change depending on the intensity of traffic?

So, I ran a red light trying to get away from a car following me and an officer stopped me two blocks later. I explained the situation and the Officer told me all he could do was write me a ticket that I could mail in instead of appearing in court. I was really hurting for cash and the ticket needed to be responded to and paid for within 7 days otherwise a hearing had to be requested. I requested a hearing since I was so low on cash and it isn't til 3 months from now. I'm riding around using this yellow ticket as my license and really just want to get rid of it by paying for iot and get my license back. They sent me a card for the hearing date...what can i do? please help :(

A friend of mine got a flyer from a car dealer suggesting this. I've heard of filling tires with nitrogen to prevent dry rot during long periods of storage but why would it produce better mileage? Less rolling resistance being more dense? Different temperature coefficient? There has to be the actual answer somewhere but all I can come up with are half a**ed guesses.

currently I have a 89 bronco II 4wheel drive vehicle. I will be towing a trailor from tx to md on a road trip in a week or so. I have time to either buy a new truck or just swap engines. I currently have a 2.9L 6 cyl. I wouldn't mind having a 5.0. I was towing the trailer today and struggled to keep 60mph. Should I buy a vehicle with a 5.0 swap motors and sell the vehicle or just buy a 5.0 engine and sell my 2.9? Im open to any suggestions but I really dont wana lose alot of money, so probably trading it into a dealer for a new vehicle wont be the best so dont suggest that to me plz.

That is what Bohmte, Germany is doing at the moment. Starting on the 12th of this month, this German town eliminated all its stop signs and traffic lights in an effort to cut down on the amount of accidents.

This is just like how the Autobahn cuts down on accidents by eliminating speed limits.

Could we learn a few things from the Germans and their wise driving laws?

I have two Lanzar OptiDrive 1535s. I was running only one sub off of an entry level Lanzar amp and all of a sudden the sub started making a strange noise and not hitting as hard. It still hits, it just sounds like crap. I hooked up the other one, and about a week later same thing. These are competition subs, and I wasn't really pushing them, so I was kind of surprised. When I took the sub out of the box and moved the cone, I could see that while the fabric surrround that attaches to the cone wasn't ripped, it was separated from the cone where it was glued before. My question is this... Is this a symptom of something else such as a bad motor or blown voice coil, or can I just reattach it and use it?
