The oil level doesn't have much to do with overheating. If you had virtually no oil the engine would overheat before it destroyed itself but it sounds like you have a cooling problem. You didn't say whether your moped was air cooled or water cooled although I've never seen an air cooled moped/motorcycle with a temp gauge. If you're water cooled (have a radiator) check the coolant level first. Other possible causes include a clogged radiator, bad thermostat, or bad water pump. If your bike is a 2 stroke. the oil injector may not be working so your engine is trying to run on straight gasoline which will definitely cause overheating. Another possibility is the wrong sparkplug Don't ride the bike until you have solved the overheat problem or you may fry your engine. If you don't have a repair manual try the Moped Army forums for advice or take it to a repair shop. Notice I said "take it to a repair shop" not "ride it to a repair shop". Good luck.
