If you need the vehicle in a week or so you will not have enough time to finish swapping engines out. Your best bet is to trade the bronco in and buy a newer vehicle.

Swapping engines can be a major headache. You could have endless problems and as it always happens, you'll be a thousand miles or so from the mechanic that put it in.
I would check into an oil cooler and/or a transmission cooler. They're like little radiators. If you're thinking of buying a new or newer truck, you wouldn't have much time to run it before leaving on your trip and sometimes even with new vehicles, you'll have problems. Before I would buy a new truck for this, I would tell the dealership what you're wanting to do and they may tell you that you shouldn't do that for so many miles
I would not pour water on the engine when it's running as the first responder suggested. That's a good way to rack up some repair bills. He might have been thinking that you can add water/anti freeze to the radiator while the engine is running and hot.
Try filling the tank with high test gasoline and see if that improves your power. Your big problems will be power and heat.

You don't have enough time to complete the conversion if you are planning to leave in a week. It will cost a ton of money too. The 5.0 is not a direct swap. That engine was not offered in a BRII or a Ranger. It requires a special mount kit to install in the engine compartment, an adapter to bolt the engine to the trans. Different exhaust. The heater-a/c plenum has to be modified for the right valve cover to clear. The radiator has to be changed and relocated as well.

to save the time and grief if i was you i would do a swap the bronco for something better or BUY another one.
If you swap the motor to this current one, youre looking at backpain money for someone to swap the motor for you, and it is an endless "looking for parts" story. and it could be longer before you drive it again.
look, or i may be wrong, you might have someone that has done this on a regular basis and will charge you 2 hour labour for the swap and has all the parts handy and does a full swap over in less than 5 hours.
or then you could jsut save the ache and get a better one.
you lifestyle.

I'm not sure about swapping the engine since you only have a week to get it lined out. You don't want to be on the road and have it break down on you.
Why not just get another one. If you are going to be pulling a trailer often, then you might want to consider getting a used pick up with a power stroke diesel engine. You would also have time to put a programmer on it and get all kinds of power to pull the trailer.
good luck on the move.

you definitely need more power, when you get to northern virginia and maryland you are going to be blown off the road if you can't drive 75 or faster because people up there are very rude especially when on the road. why don't you just sell the bronco and buy a used car with a 5.0 in it, if you avoid engine swapping you may get more money when you sell it.

If this is the only time your towing this trailer, rent. If not , get the 5.0L and sell the other one independently. You will get a lot more than the dealer will offer.

Rent a truck. It would be cheaper and you will not wear out your own truck.
