Z06 may be just as fast, post specs that are within milliseconds of the turbo and half the price, but the 997 turbo is still the funner to drive of the two and is still worth every penny. The z06 (even with the revised shocks) still just doesn't offer the feel and pleasure the 997 turbo gives.

The Z06 also is a pain to drive fast, for the steering is twitchy and the car doesn't make you feel "confident". The Turbo is a great, confident everyday driver despite its outragous speed and handling capabilties.

if you want some true speed and handling, the 997 GT3 gives up a little luxury but is the closest to a track-only car you can get thats street legal. It's best combination of speed handling and luxury you can get

They're both very fun cars to drive. Don't let these Porsche enthusiast fool you. I wouldn't mind having a Z06 to drive on the weekends (I have a mere G35 coupe).

The 911 turbo is a superior machine in almost everyway to the Z06, except for price.

Is the greater performance, and appeal of a 997 turbo worth the $100 000 grand? Everyone who owns a Porsche will say "yes". I would love a 997 turbo, but if my income was limited.....I would take a 997 Carrera over a Z06....speed isn't everything.

Haha, I say that, and I was chasing a bike at 200+ earlier today, lol.

Most of these are going to be subjective answers, so there will be nothing definitive to say. Comparing the 997 Turbo and the current Z06, you have two cars that offer wild levels of performance, and do so in pretty much every measurable area of auto performance.

Both cars also have a lot of character; combined with that performance they would be alot of fun to drive. Which one is funner would depend completely on one's driving style, experience, and preference.

Both cars have great handling, but both are also compromised by legacy issues in their design. In terms of character, this gives both cars a certain charm and makes certain demands on the driver to require certain level of skill and commitment to extract the most in performance. The final capabilities of the cars will be very close, favoring one or or the other based on track conditions. In the end, which one will handle better for a given driver will come back to that driver's style, experience, and comfort with the specific car.

As for faster? This will depend largely on how you want to determine "faster?" Standing quarter mile time? Speed around a race track? And if a road course, which one? Some other type of measure? Both cars are very fast in all of these situations, though the differences will allow one to go better than the other, and the other way around, depending on the specifics.

Stupid Americans Always think they're the Best well theyare not and the Porsche 977 Turbo will Beat the Sh-it out of the Z06 on a Track, in a Straight line, in Top Speed, 1/4 mile anyway you name it.

it vastly Depends on the Power To Weight Ratio.

Porsche Rules and the Turbo is a Supercar where as the Vette is not...

Porsches are preferred by ignorant, arrogant middle aged men who are desperately trying to compensate for their lack of hair and tiny wiener. Who would pay for such an overpriced car when you can get the same or better performance from a C7?

My friend who had the Z06...sold it for his 911(non-turbo)...

ZO6 is Blue-collar trash for those easily impressed by noise and drive by looking out the side window for validation from JQ Public...just like those who drive a Harley

911 is for people who NEED to drive...not to be seen...and don't give a damn who approves anymore than we need to explain to aliens what proper sex is...

Once you have prime rib...what you say as far as that Big-Mac is concerned?
