I went to back out of my driveway today and it felt like I hit something, the back right tire seemed to lock up. It will go backwards a few feet and then the tire will lock, if you press the gas, it feels like the brakes or emergency brake is locked on to it. So, by pressing the gas in reverse, the tire just slides. So I had it towed to a mechanic, they just called me and said that it is the transmission! I mean, 1st, it is a front wheel drive ford windstar, 2001. So why would they say transmission if the back tire locks up, 2nd, they said that the brakes are fine? What the hell should I do? I am not up for spending 4000$ on a transmission! Does this sound right that it would be the transmission? Any help would be great!

I have a 2004 Chevy Classic and one of the wheels makes a rubbing/clicking sound occasionally when breaking. We had new pads and rotors put on last August and actually just had them replaced under warranty due to the noise. The noise went away for about a week but now it is back. It only happens when breaking and it's the front passenger side. Any ideas on what it could be before we take it back to the shop? Thanks!

hi this is a 1982 yamaha xt200j and had been recently restored...we tried starting it fuel and everything (spark plug is good) and it sounded like it wanted to turn over but then didnt..on the carburetor there are 2 hoses 1 on the side and one on the bottom. after kicking it for a few times fuel started to come out of the one in the bottom of the carb...why is that? and what can i do to get this thing running? is fuel even getting to the engine?

I was stopped at a stop light when out of nowhere there was a huge bang from the rear driver's side of my car. It was really loud! My car seems to be driving fine though. Any idea's as to what it could've been? I thought maybe something snapped but when I looked under the car everything looks okay.

I have a 305 that has smoke and compression problems, the rest of the truck is mint. I want to put in a 350 for more power and performance. Should I go with a long block and can the parts be used on the 350 from my 305? Like the oil pan, exhaust, valve covers, etc. or should I just by a turn key engine. Alos does anyone know what the horsepower would be for a typical 350 for this truck.
Thank you for your help.

I have recently spotted an old late 70's to early 80's Pontiac coupe that I want. The car is not for sale but I go by it almost everyday and all it does is sit beside the owners house and rot away. Seems like he doesn't want it. I want to make the owner an offer on it but first I would like to know what it is!! I am thinkin it is an old Bonneville. Here is the description.......it is a butternut color and a coupe. The roof is part vinyl. The hood has a sort of V shape on it. My guess is a late 70's to early 80's car. Any help here?? LIke I said it resembles an old Bonneville. Thanx!!

I noticed Dodge Chrysler and a lot of car companies have that auto shift gear box. That's so wack, compared to the traditional clutch. It just goes from side to side for gears, no more clutch. It's really still an automatic to me because the clutch is gone. I see now why American cars are not being bought as much as foreign cars now. We (car consumers) want the traditional clutch to come back in effect. It's the sportscar feel behind the wheel, you can't feel it behind a Dodge Charger because there's no clutch anymore, no matter how fast you make it. My favorite car is the Corvette, however, if someone tried to sell me a automatic I would not take it because it wouldn't feel the same without the manual transmission. What's your opinion on this?

I own a 1977 Chevy K10 4x4 with a 4 barrel carbureted (holly) 350. When I push the accelerator pedal to the floor - or 3/4 of the way down, a knocking sound begins and the car does not seem to further accelerate from it's current speed. When the tranny is in nuetral there is no noise, and the engine is as it always has been. Could this be the result of needed carb. adjustments, or is the torque converter going bad? As I said, it drives just fine untill you try to accelerate quickly or push the pedal all the way to the floor. Thanks for any answers ahead of time!
