I have recently spotted an old late 70's to early 80's Pontiac coupe that I want. The car is not for sale but I go by it almost everyday and all it does is sit beside the owners house and rot away. Seems like he doesn't want it. I want to make the owner an offer on it but first I would like to know what it is!! I am thinkin it is an old Bonneville. Here is the description.......it is a butternut color and a coupe. The roof is part vinyl. The hood has a sort of V shape on it. My guess is a late 70's to early 80's car. Any help here?? LIke I said it resembles an old Bonneville. Thanx!!

Your talking about a mid 70's (73-77) LeMans or Grand Am. They're basically the same car, the Grand Am is dressed up somewhat sportier. There was also another more dressed up version of this car called the Can Am. All three had the V in the hood that came to a point in the front of the car, so I'm pretty sure this is the car you are referring to .

Here's a nice 75 Lemans:

Ignore the others, listen to this post: It is a 1977 Grand Lemans. It was the top of the line for the A bodies in that year, and the last model before a radical switchover in 1978.

That is probably the nicest one I've seen in a long time. In my area, they were all rust buckets by 1982.

ken k is right; your only choice at 16 is your parents' polciy, and if you can even get coverage on a Firebird at 16 (many companies won't even write you), you'll want to be sitting down when you get the figures. Best set your sights a little (or a lot) lower and get a beater for cash until you've established a good driving record--which you WILL do, right? Don't commit to the car until you know you can get, and afford, the insurance.

That would an ol' Pontiac Tempo.

Or it may just be the Pontiac Le Mans. Definitely a Pontiac Grand Le Mans
