Sway bars are the bars that balance out the Jeep and if they are damaged or broken, the Jeep can easily be rolled when turning too sharp. It is best that you have it fixed, or I would suggest not driving the vehicle or at least taking it easy when driving until you have the replacement sway bars installed with the lift. When driving with a broken sway bar, it puts more strain on the springs and shocks (suspension). Most lifts do not come with the sway bar, just connectors or extenders. That may be something you want to look into when purchasing a lift kit.

Here are some websites that sell the lift kits, and also sell sway bars.

Overall, I believe it to be a good trade. You will have fun, both on and off road. I have a 2000 Sahara and I do a lot of trail riding, mud bogging, and rock climbing (pic of my Jeep on my Yahoo 360 "view blog"). Loads of fun!!!

Have fun with your new Wrangler!!!

Umm, don't drive it until its fixed due to the sway bar will during cornering rub on the tires or may swing around and catch the wheel and cause an accident, plus that stabilizer bar not being connected will cause huge stability issues with your vehicle both on and offraod. I just had my sway links replaced which cost about $150. If the whole bar is broke its going to cost more than $150 but not sure what the cost would be for sure.

But yes you made a great trade, welcome to the Jeep World, enjoy your Jeep and use it for what it was built for (offroading).

Front sway bars are for security for turning and so on but a damged sway bar is fine but its is recommnened you change it whe you lift the Jeep for more support when you higher then reg. Suspension.

I am familiar with jeeps and GM vehicles. And not only did you get a good trade. You screwed the other person.Lets face it all GMs are junk yard cars waiting to happen. And you just got one of the most dependable trucks on the road. You did extremely well if you ended up with a 4.0 in that wrangler. You can't kill them if you tried.I have a jeep with a 4.0 and 300,000 miles on it and it runs like a charm. So yes you did good.
