I just recently sold my car in California (it has a CA title). When I called to cancel my insurance my agent said DMV said I had to surrender my tags and plates. I've never heard of that, do I really need to do that? I filled out the release of liability form and have always thought that was enough.

Ok my car is making a squeaky noise so I was worried about it. I took it to a family owned type of shop. He got my keys and drove it around for 2 minutes or so and told me I probably need a change of 4 new brake pads for 350$.From what I've heard, the only proper way to checking what's wrong with the brakes is to lift the car and remove parts to fully understand the problem. This guy however, didn't look under the car or even thorough the rims, can he be trying to scam me?

I'm not talking about the brake lights. It's the rear lights (the ones that turn on when you turn on your headlights to drive at night). The brake lights work fine, but rear lights won't turn off. Any ideas? It's a Subaru. Any silly comments about sending the car to an excorcist will be flagged lol. Thanks guys!

I bought some nice JL stuff and I'm hoping it lasts me for a while. Will it help to save them if I just don't listen to them obnoxiously loud all the time? Or if I underpower them (and not clip the crap out of them, lol, thats obvious). I basically just want a ballpark of how long they could potentially last. I'm actually going to have my subs and an amp for them all ready to go but I'm going to save them for my next car for power reasons. Is it also ok to let speakers sit around for a while?

It never ceases to amaze me how middle aged men rush out and buy a Harley to look young and cool again...when most people who are genuinely young and know whats cool, wouldnt been seen dead on an old mans machine like a Harley! They all dress the same and must practice for hours in front of the mirror to get that special 'Harley Stare'! Harley davidson make more money from merchandise than they do from their bikes, thats because these lemmings have to buy the harley wallet, jacket, boots, helmet, mug...and lets not forget those pathetic tassely panniers! They all think their 'riders at the gates of dawn'...when in reality most of them are actually 'members of the local guild of commerce'! Full time dentists-weekend rebels....its just so cringeingly embarassing to watch at times...can they not see what a joke they look! They really believe that those of us who dont have Harleys are just jealous because we obviously cant afford one...they really do believe this!!

so a while back i was washing my engine (this is the first time i ever washed it) i sprayed some simple green and put the pressure gun on the water hoses and wet the whole engine, i left it alone and let it air dry while i washed the outside of the truck. when i finished washing i tryed to turn on the engine but the battery was dead, put their was nothing on that could have drained it. i think i disconnected the battery and connected it again and that battery came back to life and the truck started. however the next day i tryed turning it on and the same thing happened, the battery was dead. i got it to start in the same manner again and left it running for a while then it was fine. after a few days of sitting i tryed turning it on and the battery was dead once again but now disconnecting and connecting the battery wont start to the truck i'm guessing i shorted something with the water. anyone know what is causing my battery to die? what do i have to replace or clean?

I have a dent in the drivers door of my 95' Cutlass Ciera and would like to know if anyone know the best way to fix it. My car is otherwise in mint condition in and out and the dent makes the whole car look a mess. I used to get compliments on how well kept the car is, especially for its age and now that's all gone down the drain. Can anyone offer some advice. I don't want to spend a lot of money at a body shop; they want $1500 and I'd rather use that money for better things.

It slides like crazy in snow and rain. If I put on all season tires will it get along better? Should I put sand bags in the rear? How much does each all season tire cost for a For Explorer?

I bought a car and the owner said the previous owner lost the title. (This new owner never tagged the car, just fixed it up). I don't know who the previous owner is, so the only thing I have is a bill of sale from the new owner. He told me to file for a duplicate title, but I think it would have to be by the 1st owner.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Sorry this is so confusing! : )

The manual doesn't say if it is diesel or gas. It is 2006, I was told they have 160deg therm. in them, I have to run winter front per dealer, then it gets to 210 and seems to run better, it seems engine fan runs all the time even without winter front.

i recently bought a car, and seems to have a problem with the washer pump. i tried to see what was the problem, i've checked the pipes for any blockage and the pump, and i solved the problem but by mistake i but the pipes the wrong way rear/front i took the pump out again put the pipes the right way, but when i put the washer pump back and tried to fill the tank with water, i realised that the water was running out. on a closer check i saw that some how i lost the rubber seal that goes in between the washer pump and the water pump.
Finaly after this boring story :) can anyone tell me where i can buy such a rubber seal ? please. Thanks for your time reading this, and sorry for my english.
