It slides like crazy in snow and rain. If I put on all season tires will it get along better? Should I put sand bags in the rear? How much does each all season tire cost for a For Explorer?

In Minnesota you have snow tires on all 4 wheels. The snows on the front help end the front end plow in snow. And Yes you can do this anybody who lives where it snows a lot can tell you that. I can hear your question , The car or truck streers just fine and saves a lot of accidents.

Since you don't have 4WD then you could have snow tires put on in the winter, but you have to realize that no matter what tires you have you are still going to slid around if you try driving in snow and ice at normal highway speeds.

So yes get some snow tires, it will help considerably, especially with a 2WD vehicle.

Get better tires. Something like the Goodyear Fortera TripleTread ain't cheap, but will make a big difference in the snow and ice. They'll also make the vehicle handle much better on dry roads than those junk Wranglers the factory uses.
