... bit of a tricky one this, our company is restructuring and some of the company cars have got to be returned.

you've got £150 in bank, no savings, cant get credit, cant use a credit card or borrow from friends, no one can lend you a car... but you gota have one !

What do you do ?

The check engine light has been on since a few days after the car was purchased despite numerous "repairs" by the dealer. Have also had other problems such as defective emergency brake, car not starting and more. It is presently completely out of commission, can't start it, and laser ignition key will not even turn in ignition. Dealer will not even return my calls.

a few questions about turbo diesels...

what oil to use? Ive heard 15W40 is what I need. What oil filters to use? I read MAHLE ( ithink thats the spelling) is the OEM brand for mercedes and is high quality.

what other lubricants should I use (tranmission fluid, anti freeze, power steering) - mercedes brand or are other brands ok?

I was in the autozone today and saw these "fuel injection cleaners." I thought I remember these can be very bad for your diesel car?

Another question.
Before today it had been below 15 F for a few days. My engine was at max 85C. Today it jumped to like 55F, and I really felt my turbo kicking in. My engine was also around 90/95 C. Was the turbo "frozen" before? One thing that is kind of annoying now is from a stop light, my acceleration before was great. Now it is still good, but instead its more of an engine rev and then the turbo boost, its more delayed.

I heard something about aluminum parts in my car cracking above 85 C engine temp

Greetings all!

Today I spent the better of 4 hours changing the front brake pads on my Altima. I wanted to change my rotors put I couldn't pull them off, either side. I whacked them with a rubber mallet, used a bunch of WD40, but I couldn't get the darn things off.

Any advice out there? I should would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Larry

Whether turning left or right, my car makes a groaning noise from the front. It also seems rough to turn as well. This started after driving in very horrible snowy conditions about a month ago. I figured there was just snow packed up in there causing friction, but the snow is melted now and I still have the issue. Any ideas?

What does that mean? How does it differ from a regular engine? Or a "4 stroke" engine? Is "4 stroke" considered regular?

I know because of the cars age there is going to be fresher un-faded paint underneath that hasn't been exposed to the elements thus creating a "shadowing effect". Just wondered if there's a process possible to remove this (without re-spraying) or whether i shouldn't bother at all lol.

My grandfather passed away in February, leaving behind in my grandmother's car a Chevy Malibu that was purchased in 2005. He was under a 5 year purchasing agreement. My grandmother does not have a driver's license, so she has no need for the car. Unfortunately no one in the family can afford or is interested in taking over the payments on the car, or outright buying it from my grandmother. She doesn't have the money to keep up on the payments, nor can she use it! We are all under much confusion about a possible death clause on the car. Do most car agreements offer a death clause as an "out" on the car?

Assume that each vehicle only carries one person, and they each travel the same number of miles. Say, 1000 miles.

I heard that motorcycles use 2-cycle engines, which causes for worse pollution, but considering motorcycles' better gas mileage, my guess is that motorcycles would still be better than cars. Does anyone know for sure?

I just got a new batery for my car about 2-3 weeks ago, now I can't get my car started without jump starting it. I took it to get tested at AutoZone and they said eventually I will need a new starter, but everything looks fine for now...would the starter be the cause of my batery dying?
