Is there anything to prevent it or no? Or sooner or later it's going to give?

LIke does it just go out anytime? Or is it just bad maintenance? Like by stepping on the gas is that a way for it to give out?

I'm assuming you're referring to an automatic transmission? Generally manual transmissions are pretty bulletproof, simply because short of killing the synchros or throwing a bearing, there's not a whole lot to go wrong if it's got oil in it. Automatics on the other hand are an entirely different animal. Certainly changing the tranny fluid and filter every 30k or so is a good plan, but if you really want to help it out, get a tranny flush every 60k. When you change the fluid and filter, you're only draining the fluid that happens to be sitting in the pan, which generally is no more that 30% of the fluid. The rest is in the torque converter, tranny cooler lines, the cooler itself, and the tranny itself. A tranny flush will get all that old fluid out and replace it with new stuff. I also highly recommend running synthetic tranny fluid, and adding a tranny cooler if your vehicle doesn't already have one equiped. Even on a passenger car, keeping that fluid cool is the best way to prolong the life of the transmission.

Usually this is caused by wear and tear, not checking the fluids, and most important car maintenance each 3000 miles.

either the front pump seal goes bad or the bands inside of the trans. goes bad- just keep regular maintanience on it and that should take care of it!

well, sometimed they slip, wont shift, front pump goes out,and sometimes they just wont move.just dont raunch on it and keep the oil and filter clean, and check the oil often.if you take care of it,then usually they can last the life of the car.

Mostly because you never service it and the fluid turns into brown gunk.
