If you are still working for the same company is there not someone in personnel who could help sort out car sharing you said only some of the cars have to go back. As your company made the problem try and get them to help, either with the car sharing a loan to get car at discount price(they will be selling off the cars they are taking back perhaps ou could do a deal ,they will be sure of getting money back as they pay your wages. worth a try . If not my friend I think the mountain bike a good idea . Best of luck

seems to me that to qualify initially for a company car you must have had a reasonably good job , so how come only 150 in the bank , what have you been doing with the rest of your wages I bought a car for my father in law 2 years ago for 800 and it has served him well so save a little harder and you will get what you want in the mean time try car sharing

Oh dear! Sorry you're in this predicament. Looks like you need to get to a car auction and buy the cheapest, most reliable car there. Do you know any mechanics, or at least someone who knows a bit about cars to accompany you? I know for a fact that if you know what to look for, auctions are the place to pick something up! Even if it lasts you a year! Then try and save a bit and then consider leasing. You can do a personal lease on a car ( I do it) for around £120 per month for something like a Fiat Punto or a Ford KA. This includes tax. You just need 3 payments up front! I hope whatever you do works out for you! Can't you just grovel to your boss and ask him/her if yours can be one of the cars that doesn't get returned?!?!?!

What do you mean you CAN'T use public transport?
All those people who are allegedly filling up the buses obviously CAN.
I've managed to survive to the age of 52 without ever learning to drive.
Why should employers be expected to subsidise private transport anyway?

Get a pass for public transportation and start saving asap, cut off all luxuries till you've saved enough for a car. Or lease a car. Or rent a car until you can get the company one back..

You could always buy a moped. You can probably get one for less than £150 quid & insurance & petrol cost will be extremely low. You can also use it on an L plate with your current car license without (initally anyway) taking lessons. It won't look like much but it'll do the fourteen mile trip without too much hassel.

Buy a mountain bike with slick tyres ( better speed on tarmac or better still a road bike ( pushbike), funny old things cars. we get so attached to them. And yea we do rely on them.

Work harder so your company think you deserve a motor

best of luck
