Newer fridges have smaller compressors and run for a lot longer periods than old ones. If you have it level, no more than a day the first time.

Either the dog is looking for something, or he's not happy with something. You should show your dog that you love him nd that he is living in a good place, or else he'll be looking for someplace else to live. Also, changing the height of your fence won't help, because dogs are smart and can always find a way out. So, if your dog isn't looking for something, than maybe he just wants to exercise on it's own. But, as long as he comes back, I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with it.

Usually about a day to get everything cold and the freezer and ice down to temp. If the fridge is empty, try and put several gallons of waster in jugs inside. This will help the fridge maintain the lower temp when you open the door.

Just in case, don't keep opening the door to check on it, let it do it's business. You'll hear it shut off.
