I know because of the cars age there is going to be fresher un-faded paint underneath that hasn't been exposed to the elements thus creating a "shadowing effect". Just wondered if there's a process possible to remove this (without re-spraying) or whether i shouldn't bother at all lol.

Don't bother because you know it is going to look funny if you do.

I wouldnt bother at all,I have been detailing for a long time, and know of nothing that will make the paints match up again, waxes, polish, etc.Depending on the color of your car,it will be much more noticable. Also you have to worry about how emblems are atttached, some use glue, others use little posts that mate with plastic clips in the bodywork, with glue, you have to worry about left over adhesive on paint, with the other type you will be left with little holes.Buy yourself a new set of floormats or steering wheel cover, and you will like your car again{for now}GOOD LUCK!

Rub the car out with Polishing compound not rubbing compound. Polishing compound is a finer grit than rubbing compound. Pick it up at auto paint stores.
