The resistance of the speakers should match the output resistance of the amplifier for maximum power transfer.

For the dual type subs, it's better to get the 4 ohm. They would wire like so http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/sparky3489/PARALLEL-SERIES.jpg to an amp that matches the total watts RMS of both subs @ 4 ohm.

depends on your amp and how many subs and which subs your getting and if you are getting single or dual voice coil subs.give more info include model #'s if you can )and we can give you a better answer
