In my previous answer I stated that a blown head gasket could cause a overheating issue.

To find out if you have a blown head gasket:

1) Top off coolant in your radiator, and overflow tank. (cold engine) replace the radiator cap.

2) Start engine and alow it to run at idle for a couple minutes.

3) Watch the overflow tank for small bubbles coming from the small hose that goes from the radiator to the tank.
*If you see bubbles continualy after the cooling system pressurizes, that means that exhaust gasses are being forced into the cooling system thru a blown gasket, or cracked head.

Depending on the amount and distance you drive, you could drive it for some time before it dies for good. (short trips)

But, you will need to top off the cooling system often, or at least check the level of coolant often.

However, if the leak is bad enough, water will get into the cylinder/piston and cause serious damage to the engine at startup.
Also, if coolant gets into the engine oil, it will cause other serious damage to the crank, bearings, valve stems, and everything else that needs to be lubricated by engine oil.

Check your engine oil for water contamination.
Gray/white residue inside the oil filler cap.
Overfull oil level.
Also, a shop could pressure test the system to find out for sure.
It might be a good idea to spend $60 to have it checked out by a reputable shop.

Depends how bad the gaskets gone.. a little break in it you could drive for ages, but every time it overheats your damaging the engine, plus depending on the type of break i.e. just coolant, just oil, or both. your mixing fluids which is bad for the engine.

You must live in Vegas. Because you sure like to gamble. It's hard ot say how long it will last. The only thing you are going to do is increase the cost of the repair by doing more damage to the engine. Good luck and I hope it lasts forever. (But it won't)
