The manual doesn't say if it is diesel or gas. It is 2006, I was told they have 160deg therm. in them, I have to run winter front per dealer, then it gets to 210 and seems to run better, it seems engine fan runs all the time even without winter front.

190-195 is standard. Even for diesel.
210-230 is the maximum temperature under load.
160 seems a little too cool.

If you don't have a good mix of antifreeze, the water in the radiator will freeze and stop the flow of coolant even if you have the right thermostat.

The reason "winter front" as you say are used, is to keep the engine sensors, fuel lines, battery, etc. at a warmer temperature durring driving in cold weather, and help regulate the flow of air thru the radiator.

If you are having issues with it overheating, alow more air to pass thru the radiator by removing the "winter front".

That could depend on what area of the country you are in. If you live in high elevation, that could be why the dealer told you to run cold temp coolant. I would look into getting a 180 deg thermo if that is the case, it may run better.
