I bought some nice JL stuff and I'm hoping it lasts me for a while. Will it help to save them if I just don't listen to them obnoxiously loud all the time? Or if I underpower them (and not clip the crap out of them, lol, thats obvious). I basically just want a ballpark of how long they could potentially last. I'm actually going to have my subs and an amp for them all ready to go but I'm going to save them for my next car for power reasons. Is it also ok to let speakers sit around for a while?

Thats like asking someone how long your going to live. It depends on how well you take care of them, and no defects in manufacturing.. Take care of them!

If you store the speakers, they should be wrapped in plastic to keep the outside air out. The air will dry-out the paper and rubber. Another issue is letting the speakers sit in the sun or a hot car!!! not good!!!!
Keep windows cracked to let heat out of vehicle.

In the winter time, let the speakers warm-up (room temperature around 50F) before cranking the power. Cold operation can also damage the cone material.
