I live in an apartment complex where there is 8 units in each building, and what goes on there is that whenever you are late on rent, etc, any other financial matters that need to be discussed with the tenant; the landlord has his apartment mgr. knock on your door and he tells your business in front of the other tenants in the building. How can I handle this?

can i go to a certain website for historical monuments to register this house that i live in that was built in 1917? i heard that if i can register an historical monument, then there are special funds available to restore old pipes and hardwood floors and install newer more efficient appliances and stuff? Is this true?

I live in Orlando, FL and we started renting a house in Mar 06. Our original mgmt company was sold to another firm. We had put in a repair request with the first one before they were sold. To make a long story short the new firm never received the repair request so I put in another one on Nov 2 2006. It took the maintenance company 7 weeks to come out (Dec 21) to inspect the problems we had with the shower tile and windows. It then took them another month (Jan 18..11 wks after request) to come out to fix just the shower tile. They then said they would have to get a window company to fix the problem. The window company then said it would be another 3 weeks before they can come out (Feb 12, 15 wks after request). Now the mgmt company said they are sending me a certified letter but will not tell me what it is. Our lease is up Mar 1 so I think it is a letter of non-renewal. This is the only issue the mgmt company has had with us. Can this non-renweal of lease be considered retaliation?

I'm about to move into an apartment building. On the application, the management company asks for:
W2's
2 Original pay stubs
My latest tax return
My bank account numbers AND balances
My supervisors name and telephone number

Does anyone know exactly WHAT documents a prospective landlord can ask for and what he/she absolutely can NOT ask for?

I live in the state of New York (Upstate)...I live in a apartment. Which is a house with 2 apartment, one upstairs one down stairs. There is only one entrance to get into the apartments...which is also your exit as well. But before you can enter the apartment...You have to go on the porch. The porch used to have two post/banister. One of them has been broken for many months. And the owner/landlord haven’t fix it yet, he just laid it alongside of the porch. I understand he has lot of iron in the fire(other things to do)such as take care of the other houses and apartments he has. Because I know he owns a lot of buildings and stuff. But it would only take 10-15 of his time to fix. A few mornings ago. I was coming down the steps, and happened to slip on some ice/snow. I could of have some support if the post/banister was there, but which it wasn’t, and in result of that. I broke my arm. Is that my fault. Would that be the landlord responsibility to fix that or was that the tenants responsibility ?

When people come to view the house i am selling, do i briefly show them round and then naff off so they can look for themselves, or does that just mean they might look under the rug and find the mouldy patch in the bathroom, or run off with my valuables??? Should i stay with them... do i offer them tea, or show them round and out as quickly as possible?? Am i allowed to lie about what a nice area this is or do i tell them about the ASBO hoodies.... What do you think??

i signed a lease at my apartment complex in oregon. a week into my lease, my grandmother passed away and i had to return to my home state (hawaii). its been about 2 months since my lease has started and i am still in hawaii, as i am trying to help my family out during this time. i would like to break my lease, as i am unsure of the exact time frame that i will be in hawaii... i have paid my rent every month and have yet to even step foot in my apartment. is there any way that i am able to break my lease with out having to pay all those fees involved?

Would it be best to go through banks, credit unions or other lenders that mortgage brokers might suggest? What are competible and reasonable mortgage rates? Is 6.25% legit for an first offer or should I definitely keep looking?

I would really like someday in the near future to own my own home. I'm single with no children. I've been on my job for many years it doesn't pay all that great but it is a stable job. Would a lender laugh at me with a credit score of 595?

Does my Uncle have to put his fence at least 3 feet away from the property line?
We have had surveyors come out and put pins in the ground to mark our land. They keep disappearing. He is wanting to put a fence up for his horses. Many people are telling me that he has to put his fence at least 3 foot inside the property line. I want to tell him this but need to find proof.

Additional Details

I am certain he has moved the landline markers several times. They have gone missing twice. Also he was really picky when we dug a ditch along our driveway. Water drains from his property as well in this ditch. He told us we needed to put the ditch on our side of line which we did. Now he's putting up a fence and it looks like its going on our land. I will probably have to call and pay a surveyor again.
