I live in an apartment complex where there is 8 units in each building, and what goes on there is that whenever you are late on rent, etc, any other financial matters that need to be discussed with the tenant; the landlord has his apartment mgr. knock on your door and he tells your business in front of the other tenants in the building. How can I handle this?

i think i would be embarrassed for other people to overhear my financial short comings. i would think the best way would be to stop off at the mgrs office to discuss the situation before they come to you! i can understand why the mgr is indiscreet about coming to you... all they want is their money!

They are doing this to embarrass you so you pay your bill on time. Its a pretty good tactic. Next time pay the rent on time, or if the mgr comes knocking invite him in to talk. If you know he wont come in, pretend you are not home, and then go to his office later where it is private.
Good luck

In most circumstances, they are allowed to speak with you before serving you a writ to cure. Pay your rent early if you want to avoid the embarassment, or find somewhere that you can afford to pay the rent on time.
