I'm planning on selling my house and buying something bigger. The estate agents are coming to value my house next week. At what point can I start putting in offers on other houses, bearing in mind I need the equity in my current home in order to buy the next? How does this work? Do both sales have to complete within hours of each other? So confused...

I have paid 10,000 of earnest money on a $308,000 home to get the building process going. My husband and I names are on the purchase aggrement and we are about to get a divorce. I don't want to purchase the home anymore because of our circumstances. We have'nt closed on the home yet and I was wondering if there was any way for me to get out of buying this home. I don't care about loosing the $10,000 I just want out. If I decide to go to the closing do I have to sign the papers stating that I want the home? Will I be penalized or sued for not wanting the home? We have'nt signed any papers besides the purchase agreement. Please help me, I want out of this marriage.

OK. You make an offer, it's accepted, and your agent has the "agreement to purchase" ready for you to sign the next day, say tomorrow. Now, say also that your agent is a buyer's agent. Is there any reason why it would not be feasible or prudent to say, I'd rather hold off on signing the document until the inspection's done and a lawyer reviews the contract and the inspection report--all this happening in five or six days from when the contract has been sent along from the seller? Is this unreasonable? And do all states have disclosure laws to protect the buyer?

My husband and I are both on the deed which I asked not to be but somehow ended up on it. I am not on the mortgage since my credit was bad and I have a fine I had to pay from previous action non-tax related that I just found out they put a lien on the property for. Can I get my name off the property so he doesn't have to pay for my mistake since the house is for sale now. Will the lien stay even if I relieve my ownership? Or is he stuck with it?

This is a precarious market. I'm looking for a house in S. CO and it seems the sellers do not want to face the market facts.

I would like to try to buy a new home without using an agent to save from paying extra on commissions. I have submitted offers in the past using an agent and it looks so easy.

Is this something I can do on my own, or do I need a license?

I live in California, but turned my NC home into a rental property in 2006. I have received rental income but I am not sure if I file that as income in the state I live in or the state that the property is located? I have to file a CA state return since I work here, but do I need to file a NC state return for the rental as well?
