so what ive read is lenders normally use the 28/36 ratio.
the 28 is the max amount for house payment taxes and insurance.
the 36 is for all debt plus housing costs...

what if you have no debt how will they determine what % of your salary can go to house payment, insurance etc. can it be higher than 28%...
what is the higher end for this ratio. How can I calculate approx how much i could qualify for?????

Over the course of about three months I went on a desperate auto loan shopping spree. I was trying incredibly hard to get approved under my own name with only a year worth of credit history because I have no willing/able co-signer.

I've recieved about 20 inquiries and my credit score dropped over 50 points from the original 730 I had, bringing me from excellent credit to between fair and poor.

Now I know that people usually say that you should stay away from "credit repair" agencies. However, I feel cheated to have these inquires draining on my credit report for the next two years when I've been responsible with my credit cards as I don't have a single late payment and I usually pay off half my debt or more every 2 weeks.

Please advise.

I wanted to get a personal loan, I've been reading a lot about them lately and how hard they are too get. (not so good credit) I read that auto loans are easier to get, so I'm wondering can I go for a auto loan but use the money for whatever I want as long as I am paying the monthly payments?

Is the Chase ID Protection program required? I've signed up with Chase a little over a month ago, and I have a bill due tommorow! I've payed most of it off, but I just noticed today that it says on my bill that I apparently bought the 'Chase ID Protection program last week!'

I'm pretty sure I didn't do it on purpose.. And it sounds monthly, I don't want to pay for something so un necessary! I need to cancel this by tommorow, help!

My credit is poor because of trying to replace my losses due to Hurricane Katrina, & I haven't been able to find a job since, & people say my bad credit is all & only my fault. I receive SSI & Social Security, & I'm disabled, so how is it MY fault that I can't get a job?

I recently had a collection charge, and quite a few past due payments. I have come up to date on the past due payments and will be able to pay off all I owe within 3-4 months on all the credit cards. Also I will be able to pay off the collection charge within a month.

I heard somewhere that I can negotiate with the collection agency for a payment for deletion for the collection account which would remove it from my credit report. Is this true?

I will be moving in about 8 months and my credit score ranges from 520-564 on the three reports and I need to get it up so that I will be able to move into another apartment. By paying all this off will my score increase enough by time I move?

I am not late on any utilities and have never been late paying rent, how will this also factor into getting a new apartment?

I know this may seem like a silly question, but I need a credit card as a second form of ID to open an account at a video store. I also need a credit card to create an account with Microsoft Office Live (they need it to confirm my identity, I read all of the terms of use).

So my question is, if I apply and get approved for a credit card, once I receive it, am I obligated to make a purchase with it or can I simply just use it for the purposes stated above?

Is there a fee for receiving a credit card?

All information and sources are appriciated.

Okay I found a gift card on the street. The card and pin # were still under the little "scratch here" silver foil thing so I doubt it's been used. But on the back it say's that if lost or stolen it cannot be replaced without the original receipt. So if I use it, will I get into any kind of trouble?

Too make a long story short, i cosigned for someone for a car and it got repo'ed. The finance company sold the car, charged off the account and gave the account to a law firm because it was a left over balance. I made payment arrangement with the lawyers, and eventually paid the balance/account off.I know the damage is already done to my credit because of the repo. How will paying off this account impact my credit score? Will it raise it, lower it, or will it stay the same? Some people have told me it will do nothing to my credit score, others have said it may have a little effect on my credit because it will lower my debt to credit ratio. What do you think?

I want to terminate my cell phone account, however I have one year contract left.
I do not want to pay terminate fee... If I just stop paying bill, are they gonna terminate my account?
I didn't give them my SSN... so I think it will not harm my credit.
Is that right?

I am at my wits end. My car was towed a few years ago. It stayed in storage for a while. I negotiated with the tow company owner for payment. He would accept CASH ONLY $300. I paid the negotiated amount. About 11 months later he sent me to collections saying I paid NOTHING. I contacted the collection & tow company of the error. Neither would listen to me, only telling me to provide the receipt. I could not locate the receipt. I didn't know what to do. I wanted to buy a house and this was affecting my credit. I took both companies to small claims court and WON! I won on the grounds that the tow company by law was to accept bank card payment, the collection company refused to validate their claim, and I was unfairly sent toThey appealed. The second judge would hardly let me speak, wouldn't take my witness statement because it was in writing and she could not appear for a 2nd time. He turned around the decision. THEY WON. This is STILL on my credit. INJUSTICE TO SAY THE LEAST
