Is the Chase ID Protection program required? I've signed up with Chase a little over a month ago, and I have a bill due tommorow! I've payed most of it off, but I just noticed today that it says on my bill that I apparently bought the 'Chase ID Protection program last week!'

I'm pretty sure I didn't do it on purpose.. And it sounds monthly, I don't want to pay for something so un necessary! I need to cancel this by tommorow, help!

I think I might of signed up for it accidently, like when I log in online to my account, they show up the credit card protection programs (thats what they do with Bank Of America).

yes I did just call the # in the back several times before putting this question up. Customer Service isn't responding, just an answering machine about them not being available at the moment..

ok I just called them last night actually.. I guess maybe it was 24/7 after all? I forgot to punch in 1 before the 888 number.. I talked with one of the guys in customer service, and he is telling me that it can take up to 28 days to get the refund..

There is nothing that is mandatory, call them and cancel it and be done with it and they will not even charge you for it as you just signed up for it last week.

Send a letter to the correspondence address. Tell them you did not order and do not want credit protection. Request they cancel and send you written confirmation of the cancellation. Keep copies with your important financial papers. These things tend to come back and bite you.

Don't rely on phone calls.

Credit protection is optional. Purchase credit protection will not effect the credit you have with that company. However, if you never agreed to sign up for credit protection, you certainly can call them and cancel it.
