Since the companies have to respond within 30 days, and some of them won't in that time period? Are there any negative affects this might have? Or does it depend on what I say when I dispute the items? For instance, if I say I never paid this late, what could happen? Is this risky?

This credit business is ridiculous.

Thank you!

Is it just me, or is any place that lends money and has the word "financial" in its name a really bad place to get a loan? It's something I've noticed. If they're called "Acme financial" etc, do they tend to give loans that aren't at a very good rate? Or they cater to people with poor credit? Is this true? Or have I just been seeing something that isn't there? If it is true, what is the reason? Is there a law or something that requires it? Just wondering. Thanks.

I'm an international student and I want to get a credit card. Right now, I have an checking account at the First Hawaiian Bank. I went to ask some questions about the credit card but she said that I had to be either working or get my parents to sign the paper or something. Still I don't quite understand everything she said. (actually she didn't really explain it to me. she gave me a brochure instead...) Anyway, what is required to be qualification??? I know I have to spend at least 1 year of time in Hawaii to do it. What else? She did mention that I had to be working but I'm an international student. Is it legal for me to work part time outside school campus? (cuz I don't want to work at school) Also, I don't have a state ID but I will soon get it. And, I'm staying in US with F-1(student visa). I'm also full time student at college.
Lastly, what is the difference between master and visa??

If I don't think I made late payments or have a valid excuse for making a late payment will a collection agency work with me to remove that from my credit report or is that just wishful thinking?

My HSBC card called me twice today at work, leaving messages with my co-worker. They called again, I answered and they wanted to know if I made a $100 charge to sprint, a $76 charge to Target, $100 on flowers, and $50 for a haircut.
I made all these charges and i usually spend 400 a week on this card. My payments are on time and im under the credit limit.
I was embarrased because i have nosey co-workers everyone was listening and making up stories that im bakrupt.
I am outraged that they would call just for this at my job like I did something wrong.
I have citibank and if they think something is suspicious they just leave a message at home.

What the hell was this about?

We both have bad credit like in the lower 500 and high 400 but we want to build that up. We are trying to buy the house we are living in right now but can't. The lender informed us that we need to obtain a loan to build our credit. But so far we have been turned down? Help? Does anyone know anyone that can help us?

So I've got a debt of 2999.17, and they sent me a letter offering 35% off if I paid in full (1949.46). I'm sure I can pay even less than the 2 grand, but I don't want to aim too low at first, because I know it'll be some sort of haggling situation.

Also, I don't know where to set my bottom line of what I simply will not pay more than. I really want to clear this up, and I really want to pay as little as possible, but I haven't dealt with these people much in my life.

My credit started in 1988 when Mobil or Exxon reported that I opened a credit card.

No big deal. I'm ok with that even without my authority and consent.

What I'm not ok with is how much bee-ess I'm having to go through to get my stupid credit reports from these jamokes.

Mobil, Exxon, and any other Tom, Dick, and Harry can say whatever they want about me at the drop of a hat. However, try to get a copy and what do they say?

"The information you provided as proof of your identity does not match your information currently on file."

I'm trying to teach these credit bureaus a little bit of math:

If A = B, and B = C, then A = C.

A is me
B is the creditors
C is the credit bureaus

A can talk to B.

B can talk to C

But C won't talk to A.

What exactly is it the credit bureaus don't get about that?

I'd like to pay off a credit card without the world (or my wife!) knowing about it. I can make good monthly payments but it's best if I deal with it asap. Thanks.

I get the bill today and it's a month in advance and they want me to pay it in full when i quit part of the service and now they're threating to send it to a collecting agency when i no longer have the full service and why pay full service ? Any advice on what to do ??

The other day when I talked to a Bank of America CSR, they told me that I could deposit cash into my checking account from my Bank of America Platinum Plus credit card. This card is newly opened, and should have 0% APR and 0% BT through February 2008 (I'm going to verify this to make sure of the terms when I get the card itself, any day now).

My question is...how does the bank make money on this? If there is a 0% APR and BT promotional...I haven't read anything about charging cash onto my credit card, and depositing the cash amount into my checking account. So, how does this work? Even with the 0% APR, are they going to do something like try to clip me with a cash advance fee of some type? I know they make money off from this somehow, since they aren't getting interest right now. Has anyone ever done this, and was there any kind of additional 'fee' for it?
