It won't affect you credit score b/c you haven't used it yet. Don't activate it. Please call the company up to cancel it. Always go for companies that will only ask for an annual fee or no annual fee, also known as a membership fee and usually if you call them and ask them, they can waive the annual fee. If a company ask for additional fees, it's a scam and they usually prey on those with little or no credit, or bad credit. So, be careful.

If it does affect your score, it will rebound quickly. You definitely want to cancel that card. It sounds like one that will be maxed out with fees before you ever charge a thing.

Don't activate the card. Write a letter and send it certified mail, return receipt. Request they cancel the account and remove any fees. Ask for written verification. Keep your letter and their response with your important financial papers -- just in case it comes back to haunt you.
