Maybe you can clear up a myth of homebuying for me. Is it ture you should bank with the bank you choose to get a loan from? If so what type of habits should you develop in order to make you look good on paper? Examples, do dirct bill pay so your all pymts will be on time, send any money you recieve through checking or savings? I am curious as to wether this will help mein the home buying process as a single parent and since I have had bad credit and trying to re-establish some. I just looked at a well to do subdivison morgatge company requirements in my area and they asked about cancelled checks from past rent, utilities as a source of credit. Has anyone experienced having these things evaluated? I know maybe it can help, what do you think? Any other tips?

I'd like to conslidate my current credit card debt and do a balance transfer on the American Express blue card

1st card = $4,600 18.99% apr
2nd card = $3,800 15.99% apr
3rd card = $700 21.00% apr

Now the blue card has a 4.9% fixed rate on balance transfers for the life of the transfer amount. Just wondering what my chances of approval to transfer these 3 amounts on that one card... (I plan to cut up those high rate cards asap once that happens) Are there any hidden fees or anything I should be worrying about, regarding this card, and what can I expect to be paying monthly? Credit score of 691, my take home pay each month is about $3,000 after taxes. I was also thinking of personal loans but the rates are between 10-13%. Is this the best move to go to a blue card or do I have any other alternatives?

tommorrow is my court case, to sum it all up. 3 years ago, I maxed out my $3,000 Credit card. Lost my job, place, and car. Now the credit card is trying to sue me for $6,000. Obviously, the other $3,000 is all interest. Im only making $1,800 a month, and $600 of of that goes to rent, and of course paying off school. What will be the verdict?!?!?! Im offering to settle the debt for $1,500 tommorrow?

Say for example I have $1000 credit limit. And I have spent $600 of it. Can I pay them back $700 so that I can have an extra $100 to spend on the card? Or will they send me back the $100?

My husband owed on one credit card totaling $300.00. A collection agency called in June and stated he now owed $900.00...but they would take whatever he could give them at the time. My husband wrote them a check a month ago for $500.00 and the woman on the phone with the agency said things were squared away.....

.....then today, this same collection agency withdrew a total of $1565.00 in addition to the check my husband just sent...totaling over $2,000.00. We are beside ourselves but figure they had the checking account number and decided to withdraw for more money.

The bank will not stop payment and there is no answer at this collection agency.

Is this legal?? My husband and I are devastated and do not know where to turn next.....a lawyer??

i have heard that if you send a certified letter to the 3 credit agencies that says you want proof that you owe a certain company the amount they say you owe and they are unable to provide proof withen 30 days that they have to take this off of your credit... if this is true how does this work? (how can they do that) ....

What happened was: I was kneeboarding and I wiped out. The board shot straight up and lacerated my lip, resulting in stitches... as well as about a 4.5-5k $ bill.

They ran cat scans on my brain and jaw.

Now, as you may assume, I've no health insurance. I've just started my new job... part time.

I have really good credit (721 as of earlier Aug. '07) and I don't want to lose it at all. Nor do I want collectors bugging me 24/7, but I really just can't afford to pay all that.

Now, I was told that if you don't pay the bill, it doesn't affect that credit. Is this true? If not, what's my best bet? I've requested a "financial aid form" to see if it'll "help," or whatever.

Thanks in advance!

I have a Capitol One credit card that is not being reported to any of the three credit agencies. Although it only has a $300 credit limit, it is fully paid off. I cannot remember exactly how long it has been opened (approx 2-3 years) and I can't remember if I have ever been late on it. Is it worth it for me to try and get them to report this card to the credit agencies? Why do you think it has not been? Do I contact Capitol One or the credit agencies themselves? I have too many credit cards as it is so if it is a situation where it won't affect my credit scores much either way, I would just as soon close the account.

Opinions? Thanks in advance!

I am trying to terminate my lease. It's either terminated my lease or pay rent late for 4 months. If anyone has successfully terminated their lease can you please answer these questions.

1. Did they landlord report to your credit or file a judgment against you?
2. Were you responsible for the rest of the months left on the lease?
3. It's my understanding that the landlord has to exercise a reasonable amount of time to find someone to replace me. How long is reasonable time? I have 6 months left on my lease. I want to leave by Nov.1

Also the landlord isn't responding to my letters or messages regarding this. I know she got the letter b/c I put it in my Augusts' rent envelope. The last letter I left last Thursday

My husband when his mother was alive got a credit card taken out, and it had her name as the primary and his name as the secondary. Everything he put onto it, he paid back but when she passed away, his father was suppose to pay the bill. We went to get a loan for a house, and his credit score had dropped 100 points because his father went three months without paying. When he called the company, the lady told him it had been turned over to collections. She told him to write a letter of appeal and they would try to handle the matter. What all should he include in this letter of appeal? Has anyone fixed a problem this way or are they just pulling his chain. Because of this whole situation, we were forced to get a five year loan at most at 200,000, but in five years his credit score will still be low because it takes seven years from the date in which the debt was settled to raise again. Should we focus on paying other debts we have like our credit card, will that raise our score?

My Credit isnt great. FICO of 599... Anyway, I just got some new credit cards, Like a mastercard, target card, orchard bank, and Macy's. I have charged on almost all of them to have them start reporting to the credit bureau's.

My question is do I have to carry a balance each month over to get my score up? Do I have to use them every month??

I already paid all of them off except 100 on my target because I havent recieved my order yet. I got all of them with in the last month and a half. I know my score will go down a little from opening all at once, but Was told it would go right back up....

Last year the IRS filed a $1,0000.00 tax lien against me and reported it on my credit. I finally got them paid off a few months ago and they have released the lien. On my credit, it now shows as a relased tax lien.

I have heard that sometimes, if you dispute some negative information on your credit report, a lot of times the reporting agency/company does not respond and it gets removed from your credit bureau file.

My question is: What would happen if I disputed the tax lien on my credit report. Considering the IRS has been paid and they have released the lien, what would they do?

Is there any hope of success in having it removed from my credit files, also would I be breaking any laws?

Please help!

One other thing, this released tax lien is the only negative mark on my credit.

My boyfriend works like a fool. He has very good credit. He decided to get a credit card with a $2000 spending limit on it in his name and put his 25 yr old married child with 2 children on it as a cardholder. He said he was going to help her establish her credit. She ran up the card in no time and did not pay for it and did not tell him. I knew something was up when she needed to borrow money in less than a year after he gave her the card. He loaned her $800 saying he was helping his grandchildren by loaning her money for plane tickets.
In less than a year a credit agency came after him. He is angry at the credit card and blaming everyone but his daughter. He says she is just having a hard time financially because she has 2 kids. Her husband works full time and has a very good job. What would you say to your adult child if she was doing this. How can he teach her responsiblity?

Her name is not on the house. I know this because recently the county audited everyones property taxes and it came out in the paper and her name is not on the property tax.
I am sure she has bad credit. Do you think its in his name only because they would not have been able to secure a home loan with her name because of her bad credit? Do most married couples have both names on all lines of credit and properties?
He also has a checking account without her name on it. Actually he has about everything without her name on any of it. What do you think he is up to?
