Hello, can you please tell me the SOL for a collection agency, if no payment was ever made. How many years do they legally have to collect it ? Its for Va..Its for a hospital debt . I read it was 3 years, but some people say 7...Can someone please check for me? Im not familiar with the terms and I may be reading it wrong. This is not a judgemEnt, but a collection debt. THANKS!!

okay first I don't anyone to bash me or say anything bad.I'm just looking for advice. we got an 07 dodge caravan in january and we traded in my 05 equinox because it was horrible on gas. we were still almost $11,000 upside down on the equinox and I know we made a HUGE mistake. now I owe like $27,000 on the van. the interest rate is like 15% we have decent credit (low 600) i guess that's decent. anyway my husbands overtime got cut at his previous job and that set us into a whirlwind of past due bills. now he has a new job paying more but still no overtime and we are still 2 pmts behind on the van. I was wondering how it would work if we did a vol. repo on the van and just dealt with the remaining balance. I learned my lesson and would be very happy with a cheap ol car. how would that work also..I would want to spend around $3000 on another car. I can't go w/out because I have kids and we live in the woods basically. my husb has his work truck but we couldn't all fit in it. Advice?

I need a payday loan but there are so many sites I don't know which one is the best one. Which one has the lowest fees, no credit check and I can get at least $1000? Also, I would like to find one that doesn't make you pay the WHOLE loan back with one paycheck. It lets you spread it out a little. Anyone have any ideas?

When I was 25 and under my father's insurance, I had surgery. Now, two years later, I must have missed a small bill that insurance paid some on. I moved from home and guess didn't receive any other bills. The statute of limitations is almost up on collecting it and the hospital called my father's house and asked for him, even though he wasn't the patient, just the insurance carrier. The hospital then freely discussed the debt with him. Is that a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act or not because he was the insurance carrier? He's not responsible for the debt, just myself. It's my credit that is ruined, not his.

My wallet was stolen with my social security card in it and I'm afraid that they're gonna apply for a credit card (or maybe more). What can I do to help prevent this?? My license didn't have my street address on it, would that slow them down any?

does a banknormally check the references if they are thinking of approving someone? what i mean is i just found out the bank is checking on my personal references does that mean there is a good shot i could get the loan? i would think they would not even bother checking references if they are just going to deny me right??

Who is responsible for paying bills / debts when your mother passes away? My mother does not own a home, she has no income aside from SSI and she recently divorced a man that there marriage only lasted 5 years, with him not having to give her a cent.
Because her income is so low, the court made it where there divorce was final, but she is allowed to live with him for 18 months (paying a small rent fee)...But once she is out, she has nowhere to go (I am stationed in Germany for another 4 years) and my other two sisters have no space for her either.
My worry was with all the LARGE DEBT she has, I was wondering who is responsible for it, as I was told us three girls were when she does pass away. That kinda upsets me, as she purposably made that and is still in the process of spending $$$ on her plastic cards, having no future income to pay the bills...I was just a bit worried who is gonna be responsible for this when she passes away, as I out of her home all through my teen hood.

I just graduated from college and checked my credit report. My mother (who had access to my ss#) used it to enter into 2 cell phone contracts (Spring PCS + BCS Wireless) and ultimately let both go into delinquency (Sprint=$300+, BCS=$150). So, I have recently seen both delinquencies on my credit report and am wondering what I should do. My mother is also passed away as of earlier this year. I have been reading up on solutions about paying them off, but it still not significantly positively affecting my score (especially if one of the accounts is over 2 years old). So, my inherent option would be to dispute them both, since I didn't incur the expenses myself. I was wondering what someone more informed of credit-related situations might think my chances are in terms of having them removed, given that I have no hard evidence that I did not enter into the contracts myself. One company told me they could'nt do anything since it wouldn't be possible to indict my mother for fraud... Thanks IA

I am wanting to pay off an old debt on my husband's credit report. We were unable to continue paying on it due to severe financial hardship. We are now more financially stable, and wanting to buy a house. I used to work as a bill collector, but I don't remember all the specifics. On the credit report, there is an "original balance" and a "past due" balance. I am aware that fees were charged, but I've been recently told that they may be bogus. The account was charged off, also. I want to offer the company a settlement of 30% of the original balance, which is about $530. What I'm wanting in return is for them to report it as "paid". I'm not going to tell them that I'm buying a house, because I'm sure they won't agree to the settlement if they think I really need this off the credit report. So what do you think? Should I go ahead and call and offer this settlement?

I have about $2,500 in collections due to a lay-off 3 years ago. I want to purchase a home soon and want to increase my scores quickly. I will be able to pay off every collection item within 5 or 6 months and read that some agencys will remove items if I agree to pay them in full. If I get all of my collection items removed from my report will that increase my scores immediately? I do not understand credit at all and I was trying to get info from Consumer Credit Counseling, but they want a payment plan and I want to handle this on my own.

I opened an account with Alltel just a few months ago. I got the phone put in my name for someone else (big mistake!!). I am no longer on speaking terms with this person so I had the phone cut off. Everything was paid so it was closed on good terms. Can that hurt my credit because I closed it so soon?

I am under a payment plan in a Chapter 13 and my house is covered in the plan in an automatic stay, but I got 4 months behind in my payment and I got a letter from my lender's lawyer to go to trial to have my automatic stay lifted. I am unable to work because since I filed my bankruptcy, I have become disabled. I am able to meet my monthly payments under my plan, but I am just unable to catch my arrears up.

I got behind because I needed to get my car fixed. My transmission went out.

What are my options? Can I get a modified bankruptcy and they put my arrear on the end of my bankruptcy plan or can I refinance my house while I am in bankruptcy.

Please help!!!
