I was contacted by collection agency an account that was charged off 8 years ago. They said they bought that debt and are reporting it on my credit.

I asked for written records with my signature to ensure that it was a real account that I opened. They said that it had been validated by the orginal credit card company, but they could not supply any records with my signature.

Can I have that removed if there are no records with signatures showing that I ever opened that account?

I went through a terrible divorce seven years ago. My credit went through the ringer. I rebuilt myself back up, but I have a number of old debts that are really lowering my score.

small credit card debts that went to collections and were bought out by agencies. I ran my credit and it says that most of these are scheduled to be removed between 11/07-2/07. They were charged off by the orginal company.

I could pay them at this point, but I fear that by paying them now - it will renew that account and keep it on for another 7 years since that would be recent activity. I am better off just letting them come off in time at this point?

I will be behind on my payments and eventually be in foreclosure. what can I do? I can't even afford to refinance because my payments will be very high due to negative amortization loan and low credit score. Selling is not much of an option either because it is not a sellers market right now and I'm pregnant I dont want to lose my home! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I have issues concerning my credit report that I would greatly apperciate advice on.
1) The same debt appear on my CR twice. From both the original creditor and the collection agency. Is this legal? What could I do to remove the original creditor's report?
The information the collection agency provides to the 3 credit bureaus are all different and they even have the guts to say my last payment to them was in 04 - during my deployment. I have never given them a cent. Isn't this called re-aging?

2) I have another charge off that gets reported to 2 credit bureaus by the original creditor on which they state it has been sold to a CA and the CA reports to the other credit bereau. Both of them also state that I made my last payment in 03 also during my deployment - not possible. I read somewhere that you cant send an original creditor a letter for debt validation. What should I do?

I am trying to pay off several credit cards. I read about using the rollover method, which means paying off the smallest balances first then using that amount to pay off the next smallest.
I have also read to pay off the largest balances first as they are gaining the highest fees in interest.
Or, there is a third way, and that is to pay off whichover debt has the highest interest rate -- not considering balance.
Of course this is all while the others are getting their minimum payments met.
Any thoughts?

If you were to add a person to another's credit card that is in good standings to improve their credit rating, how would that process work? Do they have to go thru the same approval process (credit approval, etc) or do you the authorized user just have to request that they be added to the account?

I cosigned with my ex on a car....He didnt pay for the car and it was repo-ed. They are now charging me for the cost of the car after they auctioned it. Th car originally cost us 16,000 we payed about 3000 on it and they auctioned it for 4000 is there any way I can get out of this. A few people say its not fair that they got to auction it for a price they wanted I should have had a say in what the auction price was etc...I dont think so because I relinquished my rights when I couldnt pay for the car. See, my ex and I had a baby and all I had was a a little truck so we had to sell the truck for a better car, we got this one and then he dissapeared leaving me with our son and a car payment when he didnt pay it...any help?

It was just last year ago, March 06' when marketers offered me a getaway trip. Then i decided to cancel it after 4 days. Until then they were having problems refunding me the money. My bank disputed several times now, and until now the merchant hasnt refunded me the money- all they tell me is that they are pending and its at the "faith period". Im stuck and i dont know what to do? I tried contacting the merchant but their service is not available. I tried e-mailing them for a confirmation number but no reply. Why is it taking so long?? Ive had enough and i dont know what to do. Should i file it to court.???

My husband had a car repossessed six years ago and after auction we stilled owed 6000 dollars on the car. Well after a lot of run around and misunderstanding, the bank filed a civil suit against us for the money and then put a judgment on my husband's credit report. We are now trying to buy a house and we need to get he judgment off of there. We could pay it outright and get it removed within a period of time, but a lot of the run around during the inbetween time seems fishy to me...and I don't think we owe what they say we do...however, I can't prove it. So my question: Is there a legal way to get a judgement removed(without paying it) or getting it lowered.

I was just notified that I owed 1k to a utility company back in 2004 and since then a collection agency has bought the debt and has been mailing letters to me (no phone calls yet) asking for payment. I recently moved to a different state but the debt was accured in WV which has a 10 year SOL for written aggrements. Does this mean they can sue me for up to 10 years? Should I pay all of this off at once or let it go? If I do pay it all will it help my credit of should I jsut wait 7 years for it to be cleared? Only $333 of this debt is actually what I owe - the rest should come from my 3 other roommates who split the bills but they wont pay up so I got screwed...

I am a 24 year old in California that is currently unemployed. I am a full-time student and have less than $1,000 coming in every month. I have around $15-$20k in unsecured credit card debts that I have not payed for 6-12 months. I also have a secured car loan of $25k, but fortunately, am able to pay that every month on time. I get phone calls everyday, but have ignored all of them. Since my credit has gone down the drain, should I still ignore those phone calls and have my debt written off? Or should I try to speak with the creditor/collection agency and attempt to repay it? Should I consult with a debt consolidation agency? Lastly, should bankruptcy even be an option for me? I would be appreciative of any advice given...thank you!

I want to consolidate all my credit card payments…. They are becoming overwhelming... has anyone heard of this company (ww.FreshStartAmerica.com)?

Are they a legitimate company?

So here is the deal. my fiance and i have a baby due jan 6th, 2008. we would like to try and pay off as much of our debt before then as we can but we need to decide what order to pay things off in because we are not in agreement as to which one's should go first. What do you think? here is a breakdown of our debt.
The dollar amount is rounded
5 credit cards-
1 with $1400 interest rate is 9.98% wellsfargo
1 with $1800 interest rate is 14.9% capital one
1 with $250 interest rate is 0% for 8 more months capital one
1 with $150 interest rate is 0% for 6 months chase
1 with $1000 interest rate is 0% for 6 months home depot
we also have two car payments one of $414 a month with $18,800 left to pay on it with an interest rate of 13.9% and one of $150 a month with $6,800 left to pay on it with an interest rate of 6.45%

he would like to pay off the third credit card first, then the second, then the first car

I would like to pay off the credit cards with the highest interest rate first

I've never wanted or needed to apply for a credit card in my life. however my fiance and I are planning to buy a flat in the next 6-12 months and realise that I'm going to need to improove my credit (apparently never owing money is a bad thing).
My question is what's the best and safest way to build up credit, are credit cards used as a supplement to debit cards and if you are in credit on your credit card do you earn interest? I know I sound a bit thick but honestly don't have a clue about these things!!

I wanted to know how I could go about filing a complaint, and if I have a valid complaint to issue. About a month ago I recieved a letter from a law firm demanding payment for my condo fees. I had fallen 2 months behind due to a serious family illness. They wanted just over $800 which didn't make sense because my condo fees are just under $200 a month, so this amount was almost double what I owed. So I called them and asked for an a breakdown of the fees. They sent me a copy of a faxed ledger which was smudged & hard to read. I couldn't figure out how they were coming up with the total. So I called again and explained that it still didn't =$800. They never called me back. Yesterday I got a letter stating I now owed $1400 (its only been a month) & that a lein was placed on my house. I called back for an explanation and the attorney was biligerent towards me, called me stupid, etc.. When I said it didn't add up & I wanted to know the total legal fees, she said well it changes.
