I messed up my credit (18-24) and the I took my time to repair it. By age 30 I was above 700 and climbing. Then, I bought a business and I am going through the early grind. Destroying my credit along the way. (grrrrr).

I received a Macy's mailer yesterday containing discount coupons to be used in conjunction with my Macy's card. Problem is that I don't own nor have ever applied for a Macy's card. This is the only incident in which something like this happened. Could this be a sign that someone used my info to apply for a Macy's charge, or could it just be a glitch in company's database and I just happened to have received the mailer by accident?

I live in MI but my employer is in NC. I'm about to get my wages garnished, can they garnish me even though my employer is in N.C? and I live in Michigan? Also the amount of the original bill was $125.00 a month but if I get garnished they can take up to 25% of my pay which equals $500/month, will they take $125 a month or $500 a month which is the max? I've already talked to an attoryney about bankruptcy to avoid all of this, but I was served a summons on April 2nd and want to know how much time I have before garnishment starts.

I would like to buy a condo, but my credit is bad. My score is, 567. I have no debt now, but i was stupid and had late payments, defaulted on a student loan, never had a credit card. Aside from my credit score, i'm not so bad off. I made about 45k a year, and I have 24k in the bank. I'd like to buy a condo for about 200k, of course it woudl be great if i could afford more. What are the odds that i'd be able to get a loan? Does anyone know?

Any advice on getting a lower rate on my hight interest credit card?

Here's the deal. I have two credit cards. One with a 9.9% rate and one with an 18.5% rate. The 9.9% card has a balance of about $2,000, and the 18.5% has a balance of $0 (I had at one point $2,500 balance but sice paid it off because I refuse to pay 18.5% on purchases). My only other debt is what I owe on my truck (about $9,000). I make over $30,000. I have NEVER missed or even been late on making a payment. My credit score is 720.

I want to get the 18.5% rate reduced and have called multiple times but they "cannot offer me anything" or they say that I am not eligible because of my credit situation. I do not want to dump that account because I have had it for a few years.

Any advice?

The USA still struggles with acceptance of diversity, yet our well being as a country is greatly dependent upon the spending habits of minorities. Even with that reliance minorities are still treated like second class citizens when acquiring loans and credit cards. Not every minority has bad credit, just like not every white person has good credit. What will it take for equitable treatment to become a standard protocol in the financial industry?

As of this second, my husband's credit score is about 615- for many years he had NO score because we lived by the theory that if you can't pay for it, don't get it. So we never had any credit cards, paid cash for our car.... Nothing.

But now we're looking into buying a home and the guy I spoke with from the mortgage company said if we get about 2-3 credit cards that we play our cards with right, we could be eligible for up to a 100% loan in a matter of 6 months to a year.

I managed for us to just get one, but I want to get at least one more and am having a hard time finding one that would approve us due to a limited credit history that doesn't have an insane yearly service fee or monthly fee. In case it helps with advice any, his yearly income is approximately 50,000 a year.

Anyone have advice on a company that has a decent "starter" card or any other tips for helping boost his credit just a tad more to help with a mortgage approval?

I attempted to settle my own credit card debt, but all credit cards refuse to settle. They would rather wait until I'm 90 days late, charge it off or sell it to an agency and have me settle with them.
Any clues on how I can buy my own debt at 12 cents on the dollar like the credit collection agencies do?

I have looked at the site and don't fully understand how it works. I was hoping someone who might have had experience with the site and the program could give me some sort of insight to its workings. I want to get a loan from them, but want to get a full understanding of the process. Any and all information will be appreciated.

I couldn't work any payment arrangements out with Capital One Credit Card & they haven't recieved no money from me for several years. I now recieved a notice in the mail today that they are garnishing my wages at 30% every 2 weeks when I get paid. Can they really take this much? I only work part-time (for medical reasons) as it is & am struggling to pay my bills since I have to pay my parents $300/month in order for us to keep our house as my dad is recieving pernament disability & my mom is unable to work as well but have no income coming in. Theres no way I can pay $500 a month in bills when I only bring in about $600 a month if they take a total of 60% of my pay? Is there anything I can do or can they legally this amount even though it would mean me & my parents would loose our house & be homeless? I do live at home with my parents, I'm 23, they DONT consider it as me having a house payment due to me having to pay my parents & not a bank & since the house is not in my name.
