A recent amendment to the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act requires each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies – Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion – to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months. There is only one online source authorized to do so which is annualcreditreport.com. Beware of other sites that may look and sound similar.

All American consumers are entitled to one free credit report per year (every 365 days), from each bureau.
Go to www.annualcreditreport.com (this is the government-sanctioned site!) and start the process. Make sure you pull a report from Equifax, Experiand and TransUnion. (They do not share information with one another and they actually have different information).
The reports are free (you do not get your scores) and you can print them off as you visit each bureau's website. They will list all your accounts - both open and closed. They will also list your delinquent accounts. There is contact information listed and that way you can contact the collection agencies to see about repairing your credit.
Good luck!

Work directly with the creditor that you owe the money to. Pay them off (in a lump sum or a payment plan). After the debt is paid, remind them they have to reflect the -0- balance on your credit bureau. By law, they have to correct it. Go to any of the credit bureau's websites, and you should be able to get a free credit report annually from each of them. Experian, Equifax, and crap. Can't remember the 3rd... sorry! try the Yahoo search engine. I am SURE that will find them for you! Good luck!
