There are more that a few lenders who specialize in credit cards for people with bad credit. You just have to look a little harder than most people have to.
And getting a card after you've had a few problems doesn't necessarily mean that you have a higher than normal rate. Like, I said, you'll just have to compare between credit lines, yearly fees, and interest percentages. Just make sure you do your homework BEFORE you commit, and you'll be fine.
You can find some offers for credit cards, both secured and unsecured here:

First of all, if you aren't aware of your credit score I would pull it to see if you really do have bad credit (most banks prefer a score of >680), you're allowed to pull your own credit once a year for free. If you do have bad credit then I would say that a secured credit card is the way to go. It may have a higher interest rate and have fees associated it but it will help you get your credit score up so that you can get an unsecured credit card or any other loans you may need in the future. The biggest bank that I know of that still offers secured credit cards is Bank of America.

You can find a complete list of 'unsecured' credit cards for bad credit here:

Of these offers, the Orchard Bank Platinum seems to have the highest approval rates. I would give it a try...
GOOD LUCK!

I heard Citi financial has a credit card with a low-limit (200$) when you get the card, and it improves as you make payments every month.
