I just transferred 2 credit card balances to a better credit card - lower interest rate and cashback rewards.. Now, I have these 2 $0 balance Visa and MC credit cards, as well as a Bloomingdales and Pottery Barn credit cards that have been $0 balance for years, I think.. Is it better to keep $0 balance credit cards open, or is it better to close them, in reference to my credit score.?

I am 95% positive he has used it several times. I leave my wallet out on my desk and I know when I've been sleeping. My online statement will say I've been to McDonalds, walmart, etc...with only small transactions. The time/date is when I was sleeping. I don't want to press charges, but I'd like to find out before I go accusing him because of course he will deny. Is there any way I can get surveillance tapes from these places to see if it really is him? It could be someone else that comes by the house, or maybe I sleepwalk or just have a really really bad memory...but that is HIGHLY unlikely...

Okay, so here's the story. I went to my ATM Sunday to withdraw some money to go to the grocery store. The atm rejected my card so I called to find out how much I had in the bank. Well, I was stunned to hear that my acount is a negative $7500.00. I never in my life have that much money (I'm 22 years old). The only amount that should be in there is $500.

After I checked who could have made such a huge error. Then I found out it was Citibank. They made a check out to themselves for $8000. This bank was supposed to loan me this amount not withdraw. I needed to pay off my debts. A month ago however they denied my request for this loan. I recieved the letter and I still have it.

I opened a checking account with them this how they gained access to my account. It doesn't make any sense. Instead of giving me the loan, they stole money which I didn't have. I'm afraid I might get arrested.

What should I do?

when i called this collection company who has the bill they said the phone company switched hands back in the mid 90's and is just now selling their debts to collection agencies. the company has never tried to collect this debt and i dont feel i should be liable for a debt to a company that went out of buisness. i looked up the statue of limitations and it says that "open accounts" are closed after 5 years. is this considered an "open account? " or does anyone have any other tidbits of wisdom i can use when i talk to this collection agency again? thank you all!

Have used my credit card at different places and they want to charge 3-4% more on the bill because I didn't pay cash, and they told me that if I used cash they wouldn't charge this extra but that the credit card people charge them. My wife and I have had small businesses in the past and never charged people to use there credit cards as to me that is part of doing business and that is for my tax people to figure out at tax time. Also by accepting credit cards we figured that it increased our business. I can remember when Master Card was first on the market We were told we could not pass this charge on to the customers as against the law because that was one of the obsticals for them to convince businesses to take on there card.
It just seems to me that this is becoming a more excepted practice and I would like to know what can be done if this is against the law?
thanks DG

I went to the credit sites and disputed several items that were incorrect.... It has been more than thirty days and most of them still say "Pending October 13th" Which is awful because it is past the 30 day mark... How can they do this? Am I screwed because I didn't do it by mail, but online?

My mother is over $20,000 in debt due to impulse buys and necessary home repairs. She has 3 credit cards and had things paid off or nearly so until the repairs came up. She owns her own home but may lose it due to the debt.

What are the pros and cons of debt consolidation? Which places are legitimate if we decide to go that route? (I'm helping her look into various avenues.) Do they charge for their sevices or are they free? How do they work?

Any tips on preventing this kind of thing from happening in the future? She does cancel cards as she gets them paid off since she doesn't want to be more in debt.

Which mortgage lender will loan the most without hidden fees on an “interest only” or low-payment loan, without income verification. Also what % of the “house value” can I expect to be able to borrow on a “no-ratio“ or “no-income-verification” loan? I own the home, free and clear and it has potential rental income. Thank You
