I went to the credit sites and disputed several items that were incorrect.... It has been more than thirty days and most of them still say "Pending October 13th" Which is awful because it is past the 30 day mark... How can they do this? Am I screwed because I didn't do it by mail, but online?

The length of time for the CRA's to complete their investigation doesn't matter if you dispute online or by mail

If you used the free credit reports to dispute from, then the CRA's have 45 days to complete their investigations.

If you disputed from reports that you "purchased" from each CRA, then they have 30 days to complete their investigations.

If you disputed using PAID reports and they fail to complete their investigation and inform you of the results in 35 days (the extra 5 days is for mailing the results to you) from the date you disputed online, then inform the CRA's that they are violating the FCRA and demand deletion, or correction, of the accounts you are disputing.

Echo is correct. They have about 45 days to "verify" the information.

But you are messing up a little bit. Many times, the creditor doesn't even investigate your complaint, and just tells the credit bureau that the info is correct. Remember, credit bureaus are only required to "verify" information. The don't investigate anything!

Look at the link below, as it goes into the exact flowchart of events you need to follow. Look around the rest of the site, as it has some excellent information on credit repair.

Drop me a note if you need more help or questions.
