Take a look at http://www.lifeafterbankruptcy.com
This site is dedicated to helping people who filed bankruptcy, and gives tips on how to restore credit.
Note that they do are trying to sell you their books and programs, but they have a ton of free information and newsletters available to look at. I am not passing along spam...just giving you a very good source for information.

Search online for a secured credit card. This type of card will require you to put down a deposit, and that is your credit limit. The least amount I have seen is $200. Send the money to the company and make small purchases like gas or groceries once a week. Within 6 months your credit score will start to improve.

Bankruptcy stays on your credit report for 10 years. But you can start re-building your credit and have a fair score in about two years. The older the negatives, the less it affects your score.

Marry someone with good credit.
(I'm not being a smart azz, I know someone who was able to get credit again after she got married. That's not WHY she got married, they found out afterwards)
