Okay, so here's the story. I went to my ATM Sunday to withdraw some money to go to the grocery store. The atm rejected my card so I called to find out how much I had in the bank. Well, I was stunned to hear that my acount is a negative $7500.00. I never in my life have that much money (I'm 22 years old). The only amount that should be in there is $500.

After I checked who could have made such a huge error. Then I found out it was Citibank. They made a check out to themselves for $8000. This bank was supposed to loan me this amount not withdraw. I needed to pay off my debts. A month ago however they denied my request for this loan. I recieved the letter and I still have it.

I opened a checking account with them this how they gained access to my account. It doesn't make any sense. Instead of giving me the loan, they stole money which I didn't have. I'm afraid I might get arrested.

What should I do?

1. Call them and tell them to correct the error. If they don't agree to do so, and don't fix it immediatly, then go to step 2.
2. Write them a letter requesting that they fix the error. Explain the problem in detail.
3. Talk to your bank and ask them for help.

Written communication is better for preserving your rights and for keeping a record and for legal action, if that is required.

Call Citibank and find out if they approve the loan and then rejected it. Don't let them call you back, tell them you'll hold. If they give you the runaround, tell them you'll file a complain with the Banking Commissioner.
