the FTC website says all over that some states protect cosigners in this way, but doesn't say which states. I'm in MO being harrassed about a debt from 2003 that as a cosigner I never even received a bill for. I've made numerous written contacts to the company asking what the debt is for (fiance totalled his car and we were told the GAP insurance would cover 100%) and gotten no response.

i work 2 jobs just to pay my rent and my school tuition. he makes more $$ than me and lives with his mom paying no rent. it makes me angry that i'm being threatened by thugs because i have otherwise perfect credit and they think i'll cave in before he will.

please don't lecture me about the danger of cosigning. i've learned my my lesson and i'll never do it again. at that time we were getting married, we lived together, and i trusted him implicitly. i had no idea cosigners could be held responsible if the primary party was completely able to pay and chose not to do so. now i know...

Your company must purchase a larger building to accommodate its growing workforce. Your company is borrowing money from a bank to complete the transaction. The vice president in charge of the transaction does not understand what type of contract the company is entering into with the bank, or what most of the legal terminology—like mortgagor and mortgagee—means. Your supervisor wants you to prepare an outline to assist the vice president. Specifically, your supervisor wants you to explain secured and unsecured debt, a mortgage agreement and the parties to such an agreement, and what occurs if there is a default on a mortgage agreement.

I had an account that couldn't pay. It went to collections. Now, in my credit report, the original account shows status " derogatory" and the collections account shows "derogatory" also.
In the credit report's summary it says that I have 2 derogatory accounts! instead of one that has been bought.
So, if some other collection agency buys my debt again, would that change to 3 derogatory accounts?

Can I have my original creditor change the status to closed? instead of derogatory since the collection agency is also claiming "derogatory"?

Listing a collection account as "Open" is a violation for a collection account.

What do I do from here, I know that it's $1000 but I dont even know who to conact or where to even begin. I can tell you that looking at DH TU file right now in front of me he has the following:

1. PAID AFTER CHARGE OFF / COLLECTION - OPEN ACCOUNT
2. COLLECTION ACCOUNT - OPEN ACCOUNT
3. PAID AFTER CHARGE OFF- OPEN
4. COLLECTION- OPEN
5. PAID COLLECTION- OPEN
6. COLLECTION- OPEN
7. COLLECTION- OPEN
8. COLLECTION- OPEN
9. PAID AFTER C/O- OPEN
10. COLLECTION - OPEN
11. PAYMENT AFTER C/O- OPEN
12. COLLECTION- OPEN
13. PAID COLLECTION- OPEN

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have 2.5 years left on my contract and am wondering what options I have for getting out of it? Can I sell the car and pay it off if I make enough? What happens if I tell GMAC to repo the car? I am thinking about moving overseas, so paying the rest isnt an option. Thanks!

I ask this because I had a bad experience with one of these loans. However, we need to refinance in order to get out of this right now yet I dont think I will be living in my home for more than 5 years. I was offered a options arm loan where all the options stay the same for 5 years. Sounds great. Is it possible?

When I was in college my mom opened a credit card and put me on the account as an 'Authorized Account holder', along with my two sisters. She never asked me if this is something that I wanted to do, but I know she meant well. I've been out of college for almost 5 years now, and I'm still on this credit card...and let's just say my mom doesn't really pay her bill on time and she's carrying a balance that doesn't look like she's going to pay off anytime soon. This is affecting my credit score and coming up as my only "Adverse Account". I'm 25 years old and starting to think more about my credit score and my future. My questions are:
1.) Can I remove my name or will my mom have to?
2.) Will removing my name from this affect my credit score (similiar to closing a line of credit does)?
3.) Can I be removed from this account when there is a balance (not MY balance but her balance).

Thanks in advance!

On 29 December I ordered furniture from my local Harveys Furnishers and was quoted an 8-week delivery period. Five months later and I am still waiting. I have contacted the store in person, by telephone and by letter but have had no response. I have contacted Harvey's head office but haven't heard from them. I paid most of the money and signed a Fixed Sum Loan Agreement with 12 months interest free credit for the balance. There is seven months left to run on this but I have no furniture to show for it. I want to cancel the order and get back the money that I paid up-front, but what do I need to do to cancel the loan agreement? Do I have to sue them, and, if so, how do I go about it? What are my rights in this instance? Presumably, the credit company will have made a payment to Harveys for the furniture that I am still waiting for, so, in theory, I have to pay them. Or do I?

I believe that if you charge your card and make more than the required monthly payments that it would hurt your credit score somewhat the same as if you were to not make a payment at all.

I signed up for a Dell card about a year ago and bought a laptop with it. I have paid off the laptop already and I no longer have any use for this Dll card as I don't see myself buying anything else from Dell in the future. Will it affect my credit score negatively if I were to cancel it? I really dont want it because it is an extra charge account that I don't use and potential exposure to credit fraudulant.

have been here for 18 years and have way too much invested in it with a terrific Thrift Savings Plan (= to a 401K in civilian speak) and a salary that is close to 6 figures. I only have 11K in my personal bank account outside of my retirement savings.

I can't imagine 12 more years of depression here though. Should I just try to find a lesser paying job that makes me happy and give up this ideal security and long term comfort or should I buck up and figure that this is life and realize it would be irresponsible to give up what I have. I have no college degree and KNOW that I will never find this kind of salary elsewhere. Sigh.....I need inspiration. Any good advice/opinions/ideas out there? Any one with a similar story that might make me cheer up? Thanks!
