I let myself get sucked into this quick said, If I close my checking account and then promise to pay them within 30-45 days what will happen. The interest is killing me. I can pay them off within 30-45 days if I'm not paying the darn interest. I'm in California. They have signs saying they cannot use the Criminal Process for collecting their money.

I've heard that "baddies" stay on a credit report for 7yrs from the date of first delinquency.

In 2002, I had a Visa lateness recorded on my credit report. Next to the lateness, it said "due to stay on credit report until 3/2005" which is only 2.5yrs not 7. Then in spring 2005, the lateness vanished from my credit report! (hooray!)

But in early 2005, I fell into financial problems again(job loss) and a few more 30day credit card latenesses got recorded on my credit report. In the past month, one of these 30day latenesses has vanished from my TransUnion report, along with any mention of the account(which is a good thing, since it's been closed and was only open a short time anyway; the account was not beneficial to my Fico score)

I was wondering if the remaining 30day lates will disappear from my report once they hit the 2.5yr mark? Or, have the credit reporting regulations changed since 2002, and I will be stuck with them for the next 4.5yrs? Any experience w/ cc lates?

-I got a Collections letter today for $50!? It's an overpayment from a past insurance company. Date of service was 11-6-2005 for a medicine prescription.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nobody ever informed me of coverage termination prior to my pharmacy visit on 11-6-2005, but THEY WIN because even though I did not terminate coverage, they have proof of my employer (mistakenly) terminating coverage.
--------------------------------------------------- I can't sue my Federal Employer ( the TSA) , but I won't pay a dime!

-- Can anybody tell me:
------------------------------------------------------------------------ Will they serve me papers to go to court for $50 Will I have to get a lawyer? How much will I be spending on lawyers and court costs?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If I have nothing to worry about legally; will my credit score of 819 realistically be hurt

Why do so many people fall for cons like this?

I expect a load of con men offering loans will post replies to this, proclaiming they are legitimate lenders!

She refuses to pay them and she won't even answer the phone when he calls. After he put her through 5 years of college and paid everything with our money. It's getting quite serious now as he is still paying other bills for her. She is the manager of a store and works 10-12 hours a day , 6 days a week making good money.

I was charged incorrectly at a hotel. The hotel agreed. They told me it will take 5-10 business days to see the credit on my card.

I want to know why such a LAG? It seems if they can instantly take the money off of the card, why can't they replace it with the same speed?

How does that work? When businesses pass off their delinquent acc'ts to collection agencies, are they technically "selling" that account to the collection agency? Do collection agencies "buy" accounts from businesses? Do they pay a fee to businesses to open legally open acc'ts and collect debts?

I owe tuition to a school that I never attended (never dropped classes so I ended up owing them). They've passed my acc't on to a collection agency. If I can get the school to vouch that I never attended school that semester, will the collection agency close/cancel my account? I spoke to a rep at the coll. agency and she insisted that there is nothing I can do. I'll end up owing the money anyway. What can I do? Can I dispute this? How do I handle this?

I have bought and sold 1 home and currently own a home. My wife and I use credit card for as many purchases to gain cash back as we can but pay off at end of month. Bills are always paid on time. Some "old dogs" credit cards still appear open on my credit report but no balance, etc. What is the "cutoff" credit score for getting the best mortgage rate possible?

My husband and I are trying to find a lender for people with bad credit that just need a fresh start. We have had several responses from applications, and all have been scams. I would like to know if this place is a scam as well.

I did a stupid thing. I noticed loads of people on yahoo answers recommened richards_loan_agency and said they got a loan of him.
I conacted him and he said he wanted £80 upfront for non collectral fee, so I gave it to him, he then said 4 days later my loan has been aprroved but I need to pay £110 bank transfer charges, I gave that to him. Got my hopes up today thinking I had got loan and it was being wired into my account. Only to find out he wants another £100 pound of me.
How do i get him reported for being a SCAM ARTIST!
Is their any geuine loan lenders on here, that won't rip you off. I have been in touch with dharrin@yahoo.com he's from Italy and sounds geuine on the phone, but STILL WANTS MONEY UP. Reason I need loan is because I have no money.
Please let me know how I can report these loan lenders.
Thanks

sale of a house that belong to her sister. There was no will, my mother-in-law was the closet living heir, but there are 3 nephews so it is going to split 4 ways with no problems. The only question I have is this money going into my mother-in-laws account and them taking away her some of her social security and health benefits. I have a lady that inhereited 100,0000 and they took everything aways from her until now it has dwindled down some and their giving her back $400 social security but she's still haveing to pay for her health insurance and meds until money is all gone. Is there a way my mother-in-law can give this money as a gift ot her son or can he get power of attorney over her and not let this money hurt her? She doesn't care she just doesn't want to loose her social because it would get all her medicine benefits messed up and cause her more harm than good.....HELP!
