Ok, I have a washington mutual card and my payment was due on May 8. I paid it on May 4. Then this morning, I get a phone call at 8:30. I work really late so I was sleeping. I jump out of bed, grab at the phone but still miss the call. It was from washington mutual and this is the message that they left.
"You're credit card payment is past due. We recieved your payment of $200.00 on May 4. You're account is now current."
WTF? My husband called them back to ask what was going on and the guy we got barely spoke english and told him that they had called us to tell us they recieved our payment. Why? Since when do they do that? I've never had a problem with this account and I used to be able to talk to an american when I called customer service.
And now, not 10 minutes ago they call me again and ask to speak to a person I have never heard of. When I told them woman she had the wrong number, she didn't understand me because her english isn't very good.

I co-signed on a car loan right before I separated from my husband and later divorced. He has a Ford Explorer of which he hasn't made the payment on for the last 4 1/2 months. No one will allow him to refinance because of the defaulted payments. During the divorce it was understood in court that the Ford would be his responsibility. So how do I get the finance company to see that and not go after me for the amount due? And what if he files bankruptcy will I then be liable for the bill? HELP PLEASE it's a lot of money.

In the state of Texas, debt collectors cannot garnish your wages for credit card debt.....does anyone know if Nevada has this law as well?

My husband has a divorce decree stating that his ex-wife is responsible for the payment of a loan. Apparently she hasn't been paying it and now the collection agency is contacting us. They're saying that he's still legally responsible for the debt even though the decree says differently. Is this true? Do we have any option but to pay it? He's been trying to dig out of the credit nightmare that she left him in and has actually raised his score up to 574. We just don't want to take a huge step back with this but we also don't want to have to pay something that we don't really owe.

A company sent me a letter the other day saying that they had bought out my account. I have not had this account for over 20 years and the company wrote off the debt. Can this other company place this on my credit report?

I noticed around a year ago that my credit was very poor, Ive been working very hard since then to improve it. i havent missed a payment on any of my 3 open accounts and recently cleared 2 defaults and brought a store card below the balance. I was accepted for a catoulouge account today, is this a sign that i'm going in the right direction or do they accept anyone? Al so does anyone know how many points clearing a default will give my score? Im at 511 and want to get to 550.

I once had a credit report done before, and there were only a few items on it. I was expecting a handful more, and the ones missing were as delinquent if not more so than the ones listed at the time.

So how come some companies report and screw up your credit and some dont? Im not mad, but curious.

If they dont report, but you still owe them money, will that somehow how STILL ruin your credit score?

I open a lot of credit accounts through stores, often to get an extra deal, such as 20% off a purchase. I have also noticed that it is good for my credit rating. I currently have quite a few cards, but I have paid all of them off and do not have a balance. Should I close the accounts?

I received a letter from a collection agency to pay an old credit card debt from 1999. I recently got my credit report this year and this debt did not show up on it, should I pay it? Will this affect my credit score eventually? What should I do?

I'm wondering if hospital bills that have gone to collections impact your credit score. If so how much? I was once told by a friend that when applying for a mortgage or other loan they do not take these into consideration.

I was just curious, because it seemed like a blessing when I received it. I am having financial difficulties right now. I was scared and did a lot of research on it and found out it was a scam. It really looked like a real check and came from National Processing Clearing House claiming I had won the sweepstakes. I no longer have it, but I am wondering should I have just deposited the check and waited for it to clear so I could pay my bills. I know I would eventually end it up owing the bank, but it would have helped a little to have that cash right now and worry about the rest later. I'm just curious - it seems more of a moral issue than anything. Please respond with honest opinions.

i have just received a letter stating my wages would be garnishd for approx. $17,000. It also says that i was notified of the court date. I have lived in the same place for 4 years and was not notified. is there anyway i could prove that and would it even matter if i could? If you're wondering if i owe the debt i honestly don't know. It is from a Credit Acceptance Corp. Online that is an auto loan place. the only car that went back was from a buy here pay here place. Do they sue you if the car goes back?

I heard that if you put a lot of money in at once they'll ask you a lot of questions so if your doing something illegal youll get screwed. True???

I have a medical collections account from 2002. Today I tried to call the collection agency to set up a pay for deletion agreement. The phone number is disconnected. I tried to google the company but had not luck. In this situation is it safe for me to try to dispute the account due to not being able to contact them? I'm working on repairing my credit and would love to be able to do this IF it is worth it and won't hurt me in the long run.
