How long a payment takes to post to your account can depend on how you pay

when I pay with my bank debit by a certain time it usually posts by the end of the business day(recommended in an emergency usually you will have other charges added to use this method)

When I send a postal money order I have had it clear in 2 days. I also had it clear in 2 days using quick collect. but the postal money orders cost a lot less.

you can wait a week or more if you send a personal check.

A law was recently passed...it states that the cc company must post your payment by midnight on the day it was received.
The cc companies used to play these games where they would hold people's payments for a few days and blame it on their "processing" time; oftentimes making the consumers late. They were charging all kinds of late fees and whatnot. The new law is supposed to stop that.

If paying electronically ---On 2 of my 3 cards if i pay before 4pm it hits the next business day. On the other one it takes until the 2nd business day before I see the credit post to my account.

I would imagine that ALL credit cards would fall between 1-3 bus. days before its hit your account. Most will be the next day.

If you pay by mail you have to factor in another 4-6 days probably.

Since you are asking about when I make a payment to my card, that is what I'll tell you. My bank runs on real time so it is immediately applied. If you want to know about yours, well call the 800 number on the card or the financial instutution you got your card from!

A general business practice: allow 7-10days for payments to be posted. Unless you are making an online EFT payment

If you pay it on line or via the telephone its usually by close of business, call the 1-800 # on the back of your card and ask to be sure
