First of all they would have to take you to court and get a judgment to do this. And believe me they can do this.

The poster that said that they can't simply doe's not know what he is talking about.

Not only can the garnish your wages, they can attach bank account and file liens on any property that you may own like vehicles, boats, land and homes.

To answer your question, if they get a judgment? No there is not any way to stop them from garnishing your wages unless your State doe;s not allow it.

Most states don't allow credit card companies or collectors to garnish wages. In many cases the only reason your wages can be garnished are for support reasons or tax reasons. The poster above directed you to a good site, below is another.
